My 1611 "X" serial number prone rifle was made in 1978 according to Anschutz. Serial number is 154xxxX.

Smallbore is not a kids only game. Plenty of adults shoot smallbore and that 1913 is about as good as it gets. Buy another rifle or borrow one from your club and get on that line with the rest of us! The large apeture advice is sound. In prone 3.8 sounds about right to me with no bloop tube. I use a...

Hey AJ. I think 1954. I have an older 54 like you describe that has a 18,000 series serial number. Best guess so far is that it was made in 1955.

Thanks for the input. Since this is an indoor shoot it moves kind of quickly so I get all dressed early so I'm wearing the pants in prone too. Just a time saver so my old fat butt doesn't hold up the program.

I'm going to go shooting early tomorrow so I'll know soon how it works for me.

Sitting Position and Shooting Pants

Greetings, the annual NRA 4P is coming up at my local club and of course this is the only time during the year I shoot the sitting position. Since I just this year got proper shooting pants I have a question. Do you use the pants for sitting? If so, top open and legs unzipped just like kneeling?

Playermot, if your looking for a recommendation for a prone rifle I'm afraid the XX11 series Anschutz's are no longer made. Short of buying a used rifle or stock and putting a new barreled action in it you'll have to go custom. I have Master Class prone stocks as do many of my prone only shooting fr...

While I have used a Warner in 50 ft smallbore prone I've never used one on my air rifle but I second the Warner recommendation. I have more than one of his sights and they are spectacular. Amazing quality and perfect repeatability and tracking. Truly a lifetime purchase, good thing when you consider...

I am not an elite AR shooter but I asked this same question to a shooter I know who in my opinion is. The topic came up at a recent match because I noticed that this shooter does not use a shaker box, he picks from the tin. I asked why and he says he rolls each pellet between his thumb and forefinge...

Did you flip the ofset plate over on the Anschutz rest? It can be flipped over so the offset is down. A boy who shoots with us needed some extra height and we did this and it did the trick. Really as much as the Anschutz palm rest costs it is the best I have seen. Maybe the Centra would be better b...

I have the same problem, I bought a new rifle and the palm rest that came with it is much too low. I put my old "platform" type Anschutz palm rest on and its much better (higher) but still not high enough, I fear the only solution is a new Anschutz "platform" palm rest with the b...
