Re: Gun lube question
Yes. CLP break free is the main culprit. It just seems to get sludgy. Not sure why. Albeit mine is older- from the Clinton era!

Re: Gun lube question
Looks like 5W20. May be an answer as I've not seen CorrosionX around. I'm shooting a S&W 41 along with a RockRiver wad gun. The 41 was having a little issue going into battery. I have new springs in order as well. I suspect the one I have is weak and combined with the thicker oil, that's my prob...

Gun lube question
I was at my local hardware store this weekend and saw a display of 3M products. They now have several oils including a "Dry Lube" and a "Silicon" oil for less than $4. Has anyone used either of these? This time of year I need a thinner oil especially for my .22. I've used sewing ...

Re: UNIQUE DES 69
I also use my 69 for Bullseye. I shot my first clean target with it at the Tennesee state match 2 yrs ago. I love it. I've tried several others, HS, S&W 41, GSP, Benelli and Marvel but keep coming back to the Unique. Even found a mag in an old gunstore on vacation in Paris. Should have seen the ...

Re: Anyone Shooting a Chambers Custom?
I was fortunate enough to handle the pistol Tony wrote about while I was at Perry this summer. First off, it was the best looking 1911 I had ever seen. The finish was amazing. The weight was very close to a "real" 1911, and of course it had a great trigger. The slide felt smoother than my ...

New targets
First let me say this was my first trip to Perry and I had a great time, wind and all! I've long watched and listened to the competition and results. I feel that, as a newer BE shooter, the culture and environment should not be upended in 1 fail swoop. I was able to meet and make friends with severa...

Walther mags
I read some where that s&w 41 mags worked. I measured the retention notch and used a hacksaw. No other mods needed. It works great and still works in my 41. [/list]

Matchdot 2
As a relative newcomer to the sport, I liked the option of the turret. I never really thought it would be a big deal. Boy, was I wrong! It really does make a difference with my load of 4.2 BE under a magnus 185 long nose. 4 clicks down from the 50 yd setting and I'm in the x & 10 ring at 25 yds.

Want to determine the age of a Walther GSP
I recently acquired a Walther GSP and was aware that there is a 2 letter/digit code stamped on the pistol that would essentially be a mfg date. Mine shows "1f". Does anyone have any info as to what date that corresponds?
Thanks in advance.

Gem tech
I have a box, and it is very quiet. From what the fellow at the shop said it is made by CCI especially for Gemtech. It moves at 1000 fps and is more accurate the the CCI quiet that shows 710 fps.

The usual suspects, an old High Standard Victor,S&W 41 or maybe even a Beretta 87T should fill the bill, more than accurate enough for what he is doing, readily available and parts are out there. Plus they will hold their value should he decide to upgrade or get out of it. Just my .02.

Rock River still has a few wadguns left from when they were making them. I just got one from the factory with the 1.5 accuracy guarantee. They are currently out of the rail/sight combo but expect some in before Perry. About the same price as a Baer. Not many left. I heard about them from a member of...

Let me cast my opinion in here! I have several old Hamden High Standards and love them all. I have a 41, couple of unique 69's beretta 87, and a marvel conversion. I have shot the 208 and pardini. I like them all. I would have to say for the cost the marvel is a good as any. I am also partial to the...

DES 69
Thanks for some very interesting points from everyone. I Reilly appreciate he time and thought that went into the answers. I do believe that the 41 is capable of holding the 10 ring if I do my part. I am hoping a change of pace will either move me up or show me something I can do better. I have have...

DES 69
I guess what I'm really asking is how does the 69 compare to the 208. Does anyone have experience with both? My 41 has been a good loyal companion, but the lock time is a little slower than the 69, and the one 208 I've handled has been "breathed on" I think, but it seems even faster and sm...

Unique Des 69 for BE
After shooting several BE 900 .22 matches with my s&w 41, I was wondering if moving up to an nice condition DES 69 that I have sitting in the safe would be an improvement. I was also thinking of trying to locate a Hammerli 208s. How do these compare? I have ordered a red dot mount from BME for t...

Unique DES 69 rear sight info
I am looking for a rear sight blade for a Unique Des 69. I just acquired it and the current blade has been opened up to about 1/8th inch or maybe even 3/16ths. I am also looking for info on changing out said blade. Numrich has none. I have email into Bobs guns. Any other resources would be greatly a...
