Re: Converting "boys rifle" to practice smallbore
I guess I meant more like getting the rifle closer to what a proper competition rifle is like? For example I have never used a front sight where the center is open, so was wondering if it was beneficial to change Basic aperture sights would let you access more accuracy than open sights, but won't t...

Re: Converting "boys rifle" to practice smallbore
Exactly what type of smallbore do you want to practise? This will direct exactly what you want, and how nuanced (and helpful) the forum can reply. If you are in the US, the CMP run a Sporting rifle competition:https://thecmp.org/competitions/matches/rimfire-sporter-2/ I think this would require the ...

Re: kk500 barrel pattern.
Those grooves are called flutes. The flutes reduce mass, without reducing the diameter of the barrel: ie less mass than a circular barrel of the same diameter, but more stiffness than a barrel of equal mass (but smaller diameter). It's exactly the same concept as the fuller on a sword. The idea isn'...

Re: Valmet Champion Rifles
Kreiger, I have a Valmet M55; this is very similar to the later Champion, but the butt only adjusts vertically not for length. As @Justadude notes, Valmets are heavy. Mine has a 760x25mm barrel, compared to an Anschutz 1813/1913 at 690x24mm it's massive. There is little mass behind the grip, so the ...

Re: walther blieker grunig anschutz barrel Performance
In addition, they pay attention to other details such as the length of the bolt - length of the bolt is finely adjusted according to the rim thickness (thickness of the flat plate at the very backside of the bullet catridge) of the SB bullet, which differs slightly among Eley, Lapua, etc. The more ...

Re: walther blieker grunig anschutz barrel Performance
My take is that Walther barrels can be outstanding; at the Tokyo and Paris Olympics, five of the six Men's 50m medals were won by Walther shooters. However, will the average customer get the same barrel as a successful International shooter? Bleiker made their name twenty years ago by not offering s...

The Blacktec version doesn't have the extended raiser, so you could Google that. It's just an 11mm dovetail, exactly the same as the top of the raiser.

I believe that's made of aluminium. Underneath there's a female 11mm dovetail. The receiver has a matching male dovetail; the rearsight can clamp directly onto the receiver.

Re: Buying a rifle as a beginner
The Anschutz "APPEARS" to be a better rifle and I agree with Tim S above. However, note that they are both "pistol grips" and know that some people like this and some do not. If I'm reading the symbols correctly, 700 euros is the price for the Anschutz. You'll have to add in shi...

Re: Buying a rifle as a beginner
Krieger, The orange rifle appears to be an Anschutz 1813 Supermatch, Anschutz's best rifle from 1980-87. Possibly it is one of the special 84 Olympic run of 1000 rifles. I can't be more precise from just this photo. The "clean wooden" rifle is a Feinwerkbau 2600 Universal. It was also buil...

Walther supply a Centra Score tunnel don't they? That won't accept traditional stamped metal elements, but Centra make a post version of their excellent hi-end: https://www.intershoot.co.uk/product/ce ... -end-post/

Re: Manufacturer identification request
That's an Anschutz Match 64, made in 1966 according to the proof marks. The model number would be either 1402 or 1403; 1903 refers to later Match 64 variants made after 1987 that feature a heavier barrel, superior trigger, and UIT Standard stock. I've not come across the Lord logo before. It may he ...

Re: Looking for 3p .22
Thank you to everyone for the insight! Two of the biggest concerns we will have: 1) being able to quickly get any parts inside the US; 2) the length of pull. I know most have adjustable buttstocks, but the Anschutz she has been shooting doesn’t allow for the adjustment that she needs (length of pul...

If Keppeler or Tanner offered any meaningful advantage, the firing line at international events would be full of them. They're not. ... Suggesting a rare, vintage, hard-to-find-parts-for rifle is exactly the opposite of what they need. I'm told there were only a handful of Keppeler-built 50m rifles...

Re: Looking for 3p .22
Again, your suggestions are valid for an established shooter wanting something interesting, but are questionable choices for a beginner, one who may need to upgrade in size, and might not stay in the sport for a lifetime. The OP might be better served with a less recherche rifle that's an appropriat...

Rifles: Top quality, very likely to be accurate without prior selection: Keppeler, Tanner, Bleiker, Gruenig & Elmiger. ... Keppeler stock systems are the best. Price-benefit ratio: Don't overlook the Walther BV at current prices. Hmm, are Kepeller smallbores common in your part of the world? Th...

Re: Question about tuners on air rifles
As I understand things, a tuner affects barrel vibration compensating for variations in muzzle velocity. Given a 10m air rifle likely has a very efficient regulator, is there enough MV variation for a tuner to do anything?
