Re: Winchester 52D rear iron sight

I think the default option from Winchester at this time was a Redfield International. Customers could also order no sights to fit their own. Out of interest when did Sam Gates start making his rearsight? I hadn't realised it was so early, as the 52D was a close contemporary of the BSA Mk 3. Thinking...

Re: Which model Anschütz?

Steve, As far as I'm aware the only common drop-in* for a 2313 is the action it was made for: the Anschutz 2013. I'll lump in the the 2007, and 2007-13, as these are exactly the same action as the 2013, just with different length barrels. In terms of other make, I believe Bleiker Challenger need a l...

Re: Which model Anschütz?

Steve, £700 isn't outrageous, but it's not the bargain of the century. IMO, a Shilen barrel doesn't add any value because it's a Shilen, but it does effectively make the rifle a few years younger, which is good. If I was looking to buy this, I'd want to know when it was fitted, who fitted it, and ho...

Re: Which model Anschütz?

Steve, What you have there is a bitsa: bits of this, and bits of that. The receiver, judging by the serial no, is a 1988-89 vintage 1913; it could have left the factory with as the lighter barreled 1907, but we'll never know as the barrel has been replaced. It's not just the bolt handle that is abse...

Re: What to do with my prone position to get it better

His right arm is too flat on the ground. Needs to raise his position. You do realise that this is a thread from 2012, and the OP hasn't visited Target Talk since 2015? But, yes I'd agree his right shoulder is a bit low. My money would be on raising the buttplate, and possibly shifting it over to th...

Re: Changing Butt Plate on Anschutz 1813 Match 54

Joel, That's a 1913, the successor to the 1813. The s/n puts the barrel somewhere in the late 1990s or early 2000s. I think the stock may be newer though; I'd expect the 4-axis cheekpiece, and 3-rod butt carrier, rather than the 2213 patterns, but Anschutz did update the 1913 in the 2000s, so it may...

Re: Changing Butt Plate on Anschutz 1813 Match 54

I'll try. I'm not very good with pictures. So here is an early 1813 (or a 1613 barrel/action in an 1813 stock). Note the buttplate is adjustable for height on the curved base. The base is adjustable for cant and lateral offset. The hook is removeable, so this could be what yhe OP has: https://www.ne...

Re: Changing Butt Plate on Anschutz 1813 Match 54

Yes, most modern buttplates are compatible with an 1813. I'm guessing from your description that you have an early-ish one*. Your 1813's butt is made up of three parts: 1) the plate that moves up-down and touches your shoulder ; 2) the base it moves on (should be silver-coloured on an 1813) and curv...

Re: Tec-HRO Fanatic Forearm Width

A few years back an acquaintance ordered a MEC stock. Liked the stock OK but had to find a company to laser etch marking onto the forend and buttstock so he could set things without using a tape measure or ruler. Good luck in your search. 'Dude 'Dude, My Gemini has a scale along the fore-end, but f...

Dies the front rotate independently of the handle? Does that need to be aligned like an Anschutz 64?

Re: Shooting an "old" Anschutzv Super Match 54

Rather than the rearsight dovetail, where eye relief could be tricky, would this work: https://egwguns.com/winchester-52-picat ... -undrilled ? Your 22xxx Match 54 was made in the early 1960s so the barrel would be drilled and tapped for 'scope blocks.

Re: Shooting Jacket etc.

Does the jacket have to be leather? I ask as synthetic fabrics and canvas (mixed with leather) have predominated over the past twenty-twenry five years. Monard still make an all leather jacket; UK price is £837 made to measure. Thune did make a leather outer but I can't see it listed anymore. There ...

Re: What would happen to air rifle without special clothes?

K38, What you want already exists; look at Target Sprint, CMP Sporter air rifle, or .22 matches. Specialised shooting clothing evolved gradually over many decades. Yes, the first jackets were just a way to hang elbowpads and protect clothing (in a time of manual laundry). Heavy rifles developed befo...

Re: Beginner questions

Hi, 1) Yes there are guides for getting started in Olympic rifle. Some are quite old, but are useful for basic technique. Yes, there are beginner brands/grades if kit. Clubs in Europe often have basic equipment for beginners to use until they get their own. 2) Target shooters tend to settle on rifle...

Shooterer wrote: Thu Jun 20, 2024 2:50 pm If my math (and AutoCAD) is correct, if you have a 26" sight radius and you add an 8mm riser to only the rear sight, you would be low by 22 3/8" at 50 meters from your original zero.
Shouldn't that be high? Raising only the rearsight raises the POI.

Re: Anschutz Sight Riser

Patcher, Did you put a raiser under the foresight too? If you didn't, your problem is likely trying (and failing?) to click the rearsight down 8mm. When you want to raise your head (and the sightline) you need a pair of raisers. You'd need a raiser under the rearsight only if you were running out of...

Re: Question about 1600 Anschutz

Caveat that I'm an appalling standing shooter, but if by "manipulating my hold", you mean pushing/pulling the rifle onto the target, this has always made things worse for me. It makes me think that 1) Your natural point of aim is not properly set on the target, and 2) Your position is unst...

Re: Question about 1600 Anschutz

Thank all of you for your valuable insight and advice. I will be moving my scope back out on the barrel. Quick question, I’ve been told by some of my teammates to try to change out my Redfield for a Leupold 24x fixed efr (not quite sure the exact model) with target dot crosshair. I’ve looked online...
