Re: Non pro shooter looking for first pro quality .22 pistol

Wow. A man comes to the "heavy competition-oriented" forum with a list of requirements for a pistol. He obviously came hear to see what the "experts" recommend. What better people to ask, and some tell him that he should not be here because he doesn't compete and buy the pistol t...

My Jr is a J1 and my IJ is a J2. The 324 should have been invited on round 1 if she was a state gold medalist. I also noticed that there are scores listed without any member number and some have a ? mark. I think that they are making this more complicated than it has to be. If they are going back to...

Do you know how they arrived at the invites? I had a female IJ shoot a 374 and a Jr female shoot a 366 in air rifle and niether one is on the list. I would have thought that they would be invited before a 324 of any age bracket

JHMARTIN is correct. we have a National jr. team member in our state and she would have shot "at large" allowing another shooter to attend the national match. Since she is only 16 years old this situation will repeat for 4 years. Some of my shooters shot very good scores, but not elite lev...

Quincy, IL High School Rifle program can use your help

QHS rifle program has been around since 1937 in Quincy, IL and competes at the local, state, and national level. We teach safety and marksmanship to approx. 40 new high school aged students per year. In 2010 our school board completely cut our funds and we are now funded only by donations. With the ...

Pat I understand the visualization but at what point do you turn the picture off during the shot process? My song turns off moments before the shot breaks. I can not tell the exact point the song turns off as it has become an automatic part of my shot process. Your comments earlier about rifle vs. p...

Most people have problems keeping their mind quiet for long times. Many times I find that during training, I will be in the middle of my shot process and the thought comes in my head "I wonder what is for supper tonight". I think that it is important that you not shoot when you are overly ...

Michael, How many times have you picked up the rifle, held on the target, and the rifle went off with what you thought was a premature discharge? when you looked in the spotting scope, did you find a very deep 10? This "automagical" shot came from your subconscious mind observed the correc...

The muscles needed to control your hold and stance should not be something you can think about, any more than you think about the process you use to walk across the room. You should be focused on the shot process not on steering the rifle around the 10 ring. If your NPA is truely "on", the...

I have purchased the black match lighters from "Olympic Marksman Equipment. They are in Canada and will ship to the USA.

I have also used the masking tape and have found that also works well, but not as easy as the lighter

Leo. The sight should have "H" and "T" on the top knob and "L" and "R" on the side knob. If you moved the knob marked L and R and that moved the impact up, something is wrong. If this is a cantable sight, is the sight rotated 90 degrees off to make it a left h...

I don't think that that is the issue with these shooters as they are at a level that stuck pellets should not be happening. I have been a high school coach for 10 years and start about 40 new shooters per year. I have never had a stuck pellet in a rifle with a shooter that is at even the first year ...

Discharging air before sighter shots

I have noticed that several air rifle shooters at the USAS Winter Airgun Championships rapidly discharge air 3 or 4 time before starting the sighter shots. I am not sure what the purpose of this action is as the regulators in these rifle should not need to be warmed up or ?. Smallbore shooters have ...

Counting tens has been a challenge drill that I have used with my shooters for a long time. Another variation is to use the hit or miss drill. If you shoot a ten, that is a hit and anything else is a miss. Less skilled shooters can use a 9 or better as a hit.

I have a SCATT that is still the serial port design. I have found that if I use it with air rifle at a range of 5 -6 meters I can shoot 100's all day long, but it is OK at 10 meters. A friend of mine has a USB SCATT and it does not seem to have this problem.
