Rifle Holder

Recently at a match I saw a rifle holder that attached to the aluminum offhand stand. It held the rifle off of the floor and horizontal with 2 hooks. Does anyone know where this holder can be purchased?

Use the lower position. You said yourself that it gave more comfort and better groups. Work on your set-up to get you as close to the 30 degrees as possible with out creeping below it. Generally, in any type of competition from shooting to auto racing, you need to work every rule that benefits you t...

The problem with only taking advise from elite shooters is that many times they can only tell you what works for them. They are so involved with there own performance that that is all they know. A coach is someone that studies the sport in great detail and uses the information to give an athlete opt...

Mike The problem with The "banana split" technique is that it changes their focus from the task at hand and moves it to a catch phrase. The purpose of follow through, or focus through which is more correct, is more about stopping shot anticipation than waiting for the pellet to leave the b...

laxratnd, My post was not aimed at you. I have read and encourage others to read that book. My point was that many shooters read the book and they are inspired by it, but that is as far as it goes. The next time they go to the range they do the same old routine. They get all their equipment out and ...

I am always amazed when I hear talk about shooting being 70,80,or 90% mental. I fully agree with those statements but the amazing part is when asked what percent of their training is mental. Most shooters MAYBE train 10% mental during a training session. We talk about it being mental but concentrate...

After all these shooting the anti gun groups start yelling more gun control. Unfortunatly, their solutions will affect all of us as their goal is to remove ALL guns from private ownership. We as target shooters should not ever think that we are safe from the gun grabbers. I have also noticed that th...

Our rifle program had 3 or 4 cyl. on the list. One of them had 4 cracks at the gauge end that had gapped open . This cyl. was ready to let go. the other 3 were ok. If you have any of the cyl. on the list, Get them exchanged before something tragic happens. Also, a dive shop told me that it is import...

There are options that are important. Mild steel is cheaper but requires more thickness, there are alloys that are impact resistant and could reduce the required thickness but are more expensive. In today's world with known problems with lead exposure, I would not construct a steel impact type backs...

Pat, International air is set up to shoot in 1 set of 60 shots in 1 hour and 45 minutes. break position would be grounding your rifle and inserting the CBI and steping back from the line or going forward to change targets. If you decide to take a break from the action, you have made that choice for ...

USAS clarification

I just talked to Lindsay Brooke at USAS. She clarified the rule: If the shooter breaks position, additional sighters are allowed. She also said that if range personnel changed the targets with the shooter in position and they did it in less than 5 minutes, then additional sighters would not be allow...

That is the rule that I used in the discussion with this match director but he has stated that this rule doesn't apply because pistol doesn't allow sighters between stages. I contend that you can not try to apply pistol rules to rifle

Number of sighter bulls in Int. air rifle

There is a match director in our area that has taken a position that in International Air Rifle with 10 bull paper targets, you only can shoot sighter bulls at the beginning of the match. Sighters are not allowed after target change for the 2nd or 3rd stage. This is argued that with electronic or ta...

Many ranges hold a match as a fund raiser. If you sanction an air rifle match through CMP they do not have a per competitor fee, just a small per match fee. I am not familiar with the 4H program. Perhaps they also sanction matches within their own organisation. If you advertise in nearby areas, club...

I was at the Olympic Training Center in classes with Jim. They announced on Sat during the conference that the USOC had decided to light the Olympic Flame in honor of Jim. A great honor for a person that made huge contributions in our sport. He will be missed by all that knew him.
