Re: Converting Ruger MkII to FP
I did the same in the early 70s with a 7.25" High Standard (the fluted barrel) We gripped it with a huge wad of wood dough molded around my hand. My coach and mentor was LTC Miller

Anschutz 1413 part needed
I would love to find a duplicate of the thumbscrew assembly pictured here. Just the nut, shaft and block. It's on a 1413 Anschutz big rifle from 1960s. I am going to do some prone again. Have not done that since the 70s. https://s26.postimg.cc/ev3kcgzv9/P1000339.jpg https://s26.postimg.cc/6pliebr1x/...

Re: Anyone using Armscor Std Vel 22 ammo?
Armscor is not even up to practice level. It shoots, that's about all.

There might be a mental thing here if you train to lift your arm rather than lift a gun. Try to feel the lift more at your wrist.

Re: Nelson .22lr conversion opinions?
Nelson count? I have four. Plus one Advantage Arms. The AA has a special barrel from Bob Marvel, and one Nelson is Bob's Custom Pro II. The other 3 Nelsons have a mix of aluminum and steel sight and scope rails. And plain and threaded barrels that take an OPA comp. An aluminum rail on a heavy frame ...

Re: Precision Revolver Questions
I can't think of a reason the N frame would be MORE likely to have a barrel restriction. I don't doubt that it might. Really, buy the book. It's cheap and will answer ALL your questions. It really is quite good. I had a Model 19 S&W that would pass a Range Rod of regular size. But the match siz...

I have a 41 with a safety that will not engage because the pin that is supposed to go against the sear and hold it in place, hits the end of the sear and cannot go past. Just reviewing old stuff here. I never got a comment or suggestion on this issue. It still has me stumped. Perhaps I should pictu...

Re: Precision Revolver Questions
What OldCaster says of middle 60s revolver shooting is exactly what LtC Miller trained me on. Miller was a 50s BE shooter, Firing School certified in the late 50s. I for one can not get into DA revolver use. Nor can I see the trigger pressure aid the sights. More I see that the trigger pressure must...

Randy at CPC did it all. Douglas barrel, stud, grooves, Glenrock blue. All superb. Accuracy is excellent

I would go with this.

The alumalite is good too.
The pictured HS barrel is mine.

Re: Scope rail
With one extra hole, the Marvel Precision rail will go on an Nelson conversion. Not sure if it will on an AA. Its just a matter of hole spacing, and a radius filed to fit the left corner of the slide. I have done this to two Marvel rails to fit Nelson units. First was a Marvel scope rail modified fo...

Re: Optimal height to mount red dot
Just a thought. Scope height can influence the arm height/angle at the shoulder. And maybe even the head position. Just like everything else in Precision pistol, there is an ideal range for this too. You have to set your own priorities.

Re: Dillon 550/650 powder measure
Years ago I took the spring off the bellcrank and pop-riveted the two halves together. Using two old style return springs works just wonderful. You can see the pop-rivet just behind the tip of the rod. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v24/tgtpix/dillon3.jpg Accuracy has been excellent with one of t...

Re: custom .45 for Bullseye
In the cost, no object area, a lot of the cost is looks. Looks don't shoot.
Joey Chambers, Bob Marvel, Cabot, what's the guys name who makes the funny lockup muzzle, these come to mind on the high end cost.
But I will take my Toyota any day. Plain, no frills, and highly accurate and reliable.

Re: Controlling a shaky hold/pistol choice questions
To stay off the target and stay on the front sight, you need to make seeing the front sight as easy as possible. Your eyesight, Rx, the lighting, the relative widths of the post and notch, notch depth all are important. And on most of them you can make adjustments. If you really can and do stay on t...

Re: Keyholing Clark bbl on my Model 41
My now lined 41 barrel was no doubt keyholing with CCI at 50ft. Holes in paper were full sideways. The thing that is curious was that CCI was real bad keyholing. While other ammos keyholed less and Eley was only tipped some but still not accurate. At 50 yards the CCI did not even always hit paper. E...
