Re: Any interest in a postal AP/AR league this winter?

All, Sorry for the delay getting back to this, it's been a crazy month both at the club and personally. For the club aspect, we had a bit of red tape to get through with the directors meeting and scheduling the range for the local shooters as well as the Navy Sea Cadets. For myself, I now have a mat...

Dr.Don wrote: Tue Sep 29, 2020 9:32 am Interested in the AP part. For a postal, do you send in the targets or just the scores (self-scored)?
Dr Don,

As this is informal while we try this out this year, it will be shooters honor to self-score and report via email.

Any interest in a postal AP/AR league this winter?

Hiya, I'm the air gun discipline chair at Pioneer Sportsmen in Concord, NH. We run a 24 match schedule on Tuesdays from October to March. This year with all the Covid-19 precautions we anticipate lower turnout. To boost participation, I want to open it up to postal participation. If people are inter...

Re: Shooting glasses and the not round dot

Hiya, Are your glasses for distance or near focus? For a red dot sight, your focal length needs to be so that the target is crisp and clear as you look through the sight. If the dot is blurry, it's your eye that is not focused at the distance the target is from you. I had surgery to repair cataracts...

Different brands of HBWC in S&W 52

Hiya, My supply of Remington HBWC is running low so I need to find a new brand to buy in quantity. What are people using nowadays? Speer? Berry's plated? Zero? Other brands? I'm intrigued by the Berry's plated for the potential for less smoke and cleaner pistol however, as the barrel was intended fo...

Re: What ammo, available in US, is recommended for Sp22 New?

Hiya, I've had several Pardini's over the years, each has had a distinct favorite ammo. #1: Original SPE, first generation ~1985. Would only accept European, Aguila and Remington "Target" in the blue box. It would shoot SK and Aguila subsonic with great reliability in all temps above freez...

Hiya,

I actually had lunch with Frank several times, outstanding conversationalist and a fine gentleman. He introduced me to another Boston TV personality, Rex Trailer.

Hiya, Yes, no difference in seating depth, just a smidgen below flush. On the taper crimp, just a slight bit more than taking the bell out, I don't like to work the cases anymore than I need to. As far as dropping the powder down when it's hot out is because the gun works easier when it's hot, not a...

Hiya, I'll throw in my 2 cents for the 2.7-2.8 BE loading with a Remington 148HBWC seated .010 below the case with a slight taper crimp on my Dillon 550. If I do my part it will take the X ring out of the target. The powder and bullet are both dirty but they shoot, especially at 50 yards. For matche...

Hiya, I run 2.8 BE with the Remington HBWC 148's as my standard WC loading. It runs the 52 well, shoots either X's or 8's, just like all 52's. I haven't tried 700x in the 52 yet however I did try #2 accurate powder in the 52 years ago, shot well but got me the one and only alibi out with the pistol ...

Hiya,

While you had the pin/spring out of the bolt you cleaned the firing pin hole with solvent and a Q-tip to remove the gunk that builds up and blocks the pin from going forward and striking the rim, right?

Hiya, Another option is that since you already have the pardini, you could make some mods and use it for both NRA bullseye and standard pistol as I did on an early SPE I had. 1) take your existing barrel to a gunsmith and have a weaver type rail attached to the shroud. Somewhat like the Larry's guns...

Hiya, If you can find one, the first production runs of the "new" trigger, (top pivot type) were all metal construction including the trigger. They are easy to tell apart from the later ones, the main body is made of machined brass instead of being cast. If you do find one, remember to che...

Hiya, Yes, those are the parts that wear with normal use. You can tell a worn recoil spring by soot on the fired cases as it allows the bolt to come out of battery sooner thus releasing gas by the case. Crud will build up inside the firing pin hole in the bolt. After about 5000 rounds, it should be ...

Hiya, I would look at a couple things and ask a few questions, Questions: How many rounds through the gun? How often was the recoil and firing pin and return spring changed? Is the barrel tight in the barrel housing? Things to check: barrel in housing fit, it should take a woden dowel to tap them ap...
