Re: 10m only soon?

So what are they going to do with Biathlon. Leave it as the only 50 meter competition in the Olympics. As it is right now, Biathlon is probably the most popular shooting discipline at the games. OK jump on me.

Re: NRA Dropping Womens Category from Smallbore Championship

dbutton, When is the NRA ever going to get it right. Woman should have their own champion. Just another reason we shooters ought to dump the NRA from all the rifle and pistol competitions and go with the CMP or another organization. They outright lied to the smallbore competitors about bringing back...

Re: 2016 National Match schedule is out

Ltdave,
The NRA are liars. They promised two years and smallbore would be back at Perry. Just like them to destroy their Junior shooting program. As you can tell, I can't be more infuriated. Sorry for the post, but, they deserve it.

Re: Izh-7-3 rising block (for the foresight)

I'm not sure of the OD of the 7-3 or 4. The OD of the 7.2 barrel was .750. You can mount a small Anschutz bloop tube on the barrel if it is .750 and use the 11mm grooves to mount a sight riser and an Anschutz sight. I doubt the 7-3 and 4 barrel are that hefty but at least you can measure. You might ...

Re: Best Book for Improving Offhand Technique

David Tubb wrote a book on position shooting. While his approach to standing is quite different than everything else I have read, it does show you the many ways one can use to shoot better standing scores.

Re: No wonder you can't hit anything!

Our Host, Pilkguns did pellet testing at Camp Perry, before smallbore was moved to Bristol. I hope smallbore goes back to Camp Perry next year so we can tour Commercial Row, but I am not holding my breath.

Ft Hood shooting

My son is now at Ft. Hood with the 1st Cav. Are their any places to shoot 22 3p indoor or outdoor, or NRA 600yd military matches? All his gear is up in Wisconsin but after he settles in it can be driven down pronto. Any input is appreciated

Re: Izhmash Action Question

Mike, my Biathlete is now in the U.S. Army boot camp, combat infantry at Fort Benning Georgia. After that is jump school and then sniper training if he makes it through. He knows a couple of gents in the AMU, but has not told anybody squat about his shooting ability or his biathlon prowess. He inten...

Re: Izhmash Action Question

The curved trigger assembly of a 7.2 will not fit in the stock trigger cut in the stock of a 7.3. You need a straight trigger from a 7.3 and attach it to the 7.2 trigger assembly. The 7.2 garand style safety will not fit the 7.3 stock and has to be discarded. The 7.2 has a thicker barrel than the 7....

Re: New Rifle Buying Tips

My son was a short lightweight who could shoot decent standing scores with his Feinwerkbau 700 but lousy standing scores with his 52D that weighed over 12lbs. I bought him a bridge rifle, a Walther KKM for $750.00. The stock of the KKM had the butt chopped a few inches for a previous junior shooter ...

My son does not pull his right knee up very far normally in prone. He uses the same body position with his skis on. He checks his POA on the middle plate then works left to right. He uses a little cant but doesn't change his cheek piece height. The hand stop is set for a low position just above 30*....

My son uses front and rear adjustable apetures for a reason. Biathlon I believe has the highest light variation of any rifle sport. It varies from brilliant sunlight with reflected snowlight to dark snowy obscured light. He has had no problems with the apetures. As for building positions in prone an...

Jabberwo, If that picture is your jam problem, then I have lead you astray. The jam I got with my gun was the last quarter inch before lockup, not 3/4" like you have depicted in the picture. Yours is a feed issue, not a lockup issue and you might need a longer bullet with the lighter return spr...

Jabberwo, My smithed gun came the same way. He gave me a rubber hammer and told me to shoot 500 rounds through it for break in. Works fine now. No jams. Lock up is as tight as a drum. Hammer was an assist to tap the rounds into battery and basically lap the barrel lugs in the receiver. I know many g...

Why don't you guys shoot 50 meter small bore with the NRA 50 meter target this summer. This is a tough target with a dime covering the X and 10 ring. It is a 3P target, but just shoot it in Prone and Standing. Use your Biathlon rifles. You really need the attention of a rifle coach to instill good h...

Don't give up hope. Back in the 90's a young gent in his late 70's won an Eastern State championship with a score well over 2600. You just never know until you try it.

My harness rail is mounted on the other side of the toggle. Why would anyone mount the harness rail on the same side as the toggle, magazine rack and extra bullet carrier???
