I have astigmatizm....I use a iris always with open sights (Merit) in fact if it wasnt for the merit open sight shooting for target work would be impossible for me even with my glasses......when I shoot a dot it just depends on the dot that I'm useing....but I find a iris to be helpful in all insten...

Trooper, I thought about those....I tryed some Penn 180's at 4.0BE....But for some reason my gun just seems to function better with 200's when I use Bullseye powder...I can use lighter bullets with Clays ...I think when I order bullets next time I'll get some qualty cast 200's and see if I can get l...

Nice light load
Being that I shoot mainly indoors and at 25yds , I wanted to have something load wise that fit that purpose...My gun likes 200gr bullets better than 180/185's so naturally I stuck with them...I found 2 loads that fit this purpose...3.5 BE and 3.6 Clays both with the 200gr Lswc's ,1.245 COL, and .470...

I tend to use Federal, Winchester ,and even Remington. But I keep it separated....Federal has a large and small flash hole . So I separate those , Winchester and R-P each also has there own box ...everthing else gets used up at IDPA and Bowling pin shoots....But I plan on a Starline Purchase here in...

In order to work a compensator needs loads that are a lot more powerful than are normally used in Bullseye. +1 on the above...This next statement is just my opion only ....I dont think comps do all that much in .45 acp ...higher pressure guns yes .357 mag / .40 and even sometimes in a 9mm ...but mo...

Rover, didnt think you was actually pissed ..... but the what the hell thing kinda threw me a tad ...no problem....I understand I must test as all guns have a prefered diet......but from what Ive found there are well established loads that just seem to work as long as the gun is good like 3.9 clays ...

rdl2001, I got a clark slide mount for my RO ....I had a gunsmith drill and tap the slide for me.....I also cut the slide mount down so it fit between the open sights....Once you mount the red dot....you will most likely need to change your recoil spring .....3.8 clays with a 185 or a 200 you will n...

What the hell do we know? Do some tests. You have two good powders; try a series of different charges and see which is most accurate and if it functions the gun well. I'd start with 3.5 grains and go up. There is no other way. I understand I must test....But what harm did it do to ask ?? someone ma...

As I am new to the .45 thing as far as BE is concerned ....I will only throw out one pt. as this is what I made my decission on ......I went with a slide mount . My reason was that with a slide mount the frame to slide fit wouldnt play in . I figured if the open sights where mounted to the slide and...

Lookin for some info here. Ive got some 180gr H&G 68 type bullets comeing from Penn Bullet . What would be a good loading for the billets to start out with ? I got them for indoor 50ft & 25yds . I have BE and clays on hand .....gun has a slide mounted ultra dot and I have 10 & 11 lb reco...

Ive got one, I think its a very good gun as far as a production gun goes. Mine will shoot right at a inch @ 25yds . I did that with the open sights over a rolled up jacket. Ive since put a dot on it , hand fitted a tighter fitting barrel bushing and changed the slide stop pin to a .200 pin . the gun...

I might be missing something but if your present gun and ammo combination is shooting one inch groups, shouldnt you be leaving well enough alone and telling us about YOUR load? The load my gun has shot the best with was 3.9 grs clays / 200gr Penn Lswc/ 1.245 COL/ .469 crimp/ Federal primer. I was j...

25yd load
say you had to pick one load for a 1911 @ 25yds (short course) slow, timed, rapid. what would it be..........reason I ask.....I shoot BE just as a hobby with a pair of ruger MKIII's and a springfield armory RO that Ive done enuff to so it shoots 1'' @ 25yds.....99% of my shootin is indoors @ 25 yds .....

HP-38? w-231
HAs anyone used it with a 200gr LSWC in .45 ? Looks like it would be a lighter recoiling load than BE or clays ..I believe its one of those blast from the past loads that was once used alot but BE and clays ,VV n310 seem to have the staget now. Anyway I"m kinda new to the .45 . Ive shot clays a...
