Re: Anschütz 1903

A few photos of my Sons new Anschütz 1903. Its a factory ordered shorted barreled action to meet the requirements of the weight limit for the Canadian Sporting Rifle Class. I also modified the standard 1903 rear stock by adding the ALU components and modifing the standard cheek rest to reduce weigh...

I ended up going for a slightly smaller ext tube. The 12" just seemed to put the front sight way to far away so I shortened it to an 8" tube which yielded a full 40" sight radius. With that sight radius I find that 4.2 on the front sight iris aperature seemed to work OK on an ISSF 50...

Hey Adrian: I can recommend sbrmike's suggestion to use the Anschutz 4751 handstop. I used to have the little one like you have pictured (the 6225) - the one that came with the original stock - and it pushed undue pressure on my hand. The 4751 handstop is quite a nice one, good ergonomics and sells ...

Re: Prone only jackets???

I only shoot prone. Just wondering if anyone here has any experience with the jackets made for the prone position. Thanks, Tenring Tenring: I have had the KT MTM canvas prone only jacket for just over one year now. I am very happy with it. The MTM is key - don't cut corners here and make sure it is...

Dave:
Very nice rig.
I am green with aluminum envy ... but I'll stick with being right handed.

I'd give my left hand to be ambidextrous!!!

I'm extremely happy with the performance I have been getting with the "entry level" Lapua Centre-X. The Lapua shoots the best for me when compared to Eley and RWS for my 1907. I can't yet afford the Midas+ or the X-act. For us Canucks up here north of the border, the Centre-X costs about t...

Thanks Kenny.

Got to finally live fire last night.
Shot the same old scores as usual - average, but that is OK.
The "KEY" was the increased comfort and the hand "endurance" that also followed/resulted.

Big improvement.
Many thanks.
Cheers.

Hi Globesmasher, I would suggest that before you completely butcher your sling, see if you can devise a way of achieving the single thickness over the wrist without cutting the long length. You may also need a couple of extra Interscrews (Chicago screws) as you only get 4 with the Thune sling. Also...

Thanks Kenny. I was (I should say "am") currently experiencing the same sort of issue Dave is, but it is not too bad. I quite like your idea of the sling mod - I have a Kurt Thune sling which looks identical to yours Kenny so I think I will make some similar mods on mine to match yours. Be...

I have two strips of squash racket tape on the pistol grip of my rifle. Although it used to be built up slightly more with Bluetack and gaffer tape :) I used to use Dr Scholls gell inserts and then wrap them up in "vet wrap" to "bulk out" the pistol grip. I tried the "sugru...

Is the pressure/pain on the front part of the hand - between the thumb and forefinger? I suffered from this for quite a while (to the point where I was considering giving up) but I found a solution which worked for me. I posted some pictures on this thread: http://www.targettalk.org/viewtopic.php?t...

I find that it gets painful if the rifle is too muzzle heavy - I use a tube and have a heavier than normal barrel so I ended up shaving the stock down to get a comfortable balance. Kenny: Yup, this is what I discovered almost immediately. When I moved my support hand backwards along the stock to a ...

If yours is very front-heavy, I do wonder if you have got the butt too long (especially if you were set up by a tall shooter who might not have realised), and whether you could shorten the butt and move the handstop forward in sync to bring the CoG back closer to your left hand. What combination of...

Folks: Looking for some advice, hints or tips...... The hand that supports the stock in prone smallbore rifle shooting ..... [I'm a right handed prone shooter so I'm referring to my left arm & hand] ...... where should it be: in front of the Center of gravity (C of G), right on/under the "C...

There are some good pictures and explanations on pages 87 & 88 of the 3rd edition of the book - "Ways of the rifle 2009". Strangely enough those pages are in the "standing shooting" portion of the book. The explanations and diagrams show examples of the 3 recommended position...
