"Booster" Heel Rests for Hammerli AP20 Air Pistol Grips
The college team I help coach has twenty six AP20's that we use for all the beginners. The universal grips work well for a remarkably wide range of shooters, but I've designed & 3D printed "booster" heel rests for students with small hands. They have material added above the height of ...

Re: Steyr LP2 vs Walther LP500 Basic/Economy
After the flurry of interest generated by the Olympics, I'm guessing the supply of used high end air pistols will be excellent in about 2 years. Almost any brand-name air pistol will get you started. Work with that for 2 years, and then pick up a top of line slightly-used pistol when the bloom is of...

Re: Matchguns MG2/MG4 Trigger Mod
I 3D print triggers for a bunch of my pistols. https://www.targettalk.org/viewtopic.php?p=320765#p320765 Further down in the thread, there's a link to a zip file with CAD versions that could be edited. https://www.targettalk.org/viewtopic.php?p=328409#p328409 I forget what is in it, but I'm pretty s...

Re: New Wolf Match Extra
I have heard lots of grumbling about Eley in the last couple years. I stopped buying it when I had a bunch that was crimped improperly and was leaving brass shreds in my pistols. I documented this and sent the info to Eley. They didn't even apologize. Their response was basically " Yeah, that c...

I took videos of the seal replacement process. I still need to edit them and get them up on YouTube, but they are in the works.

A friend of mine was once describing a free pistol match to some visitors who knew nothing about competitive shooting. Part of the follow-through process involved the shooter looking through his scope after every shot and shaking his head in disappointment...

Re: Anyone Figure Out How to Adjust the Velocity of Hammerli AP20's?
Thanks! I thought about fudging the striker spring arrangement. Unless someone left it cocked for a long time, I wouldn't expect the spring to take a 'set".
It looks like getting the striker spring out isn't exactly trivial. On a lot of other PCP's, it's pretty straightforward.

Anyone Figure Out How to Adjust the Velocity of Hammerli AP20's?
A local club with an active junior program has an AP20 that is shooting a bit slow. I don't think they've measured it, so I'm guessing this is based on the report being softer than the other AP20's they have, or it's making ragged holes in targets. There have been a couple of queries about this quit...

Re: Low velocity on Steyr
Check the seals on the bolt. You may be getting leakage that would both drop the velocity and cause velocity variations.
Drape a piece of tissue over the top (but not covering any of the vent holes in the barrel), and see if it goes flying when you fire.

Re: Will vinegar remove oxide on Eley Tenex?
Do I need to apply some lube like Liqui Moly the synthetic oil after the wipe? The lube on the noise of the bullets does nothing. There will still be lube in the grooves. It's probably fine without any additional lube unless you have a ton of the stuff. If you shoot a lot of it, you might get a bit...

Re: My new 3D printer arrived
Unless they have a scanner, getting the shape of the grip right isn't easy. It also helps if they have enough of a pistol shooting background to understand what you are trying to achieve and why. Andrew Berryhill at PTPG has made hundreds (if not thousands) of grips, and used to coach the Purdue col...

Re: My new 3D printer arrived
There are lots of things you can do. Within reason, PTPG will iterate to get it close, but you may still want to file & putty it a bit. You can then send the final version back to get scanned, and they can print a nicer copy. You can also send your modified grip to a grip maker like Rink, and th...

Is it possible to 3d a set of grips for a pistol? It's very possible, and others have done it. Precision Target Pistol Grips is a successful business that specializes in them: https://www.precisiontargetpistolgrips.com/ Getting a good fit to the pistol frame can take a couple iterations to get righ...

Re: Will vinegar remove oxide on Eley Tenex?
I did some research on this a while back when I was selling a bunch of old ammo. The white stuff isn't lead oxide, which is either yellow or red. The white stuff is more likely the lube oxidizing, and in my experience, whatever Eley uses tends to do it more than a lot of other brands. Just wipe it (...

Re: Hammerli AP20 Pro general impressions and grips
If you are in the US, and want the best price on AP20's, talk to Neal Stepp at ISS (you have to call on the phone). That were we bought the 26 pistols my college team uses. Walther refused to allow us any sort of quantity or educational discount, and Neal still had the best prices.

Re: New shooters - 1 hand or 2?
Back when the only handgun competition in the US was 'bullseye", everyone understood that pistol marksmanship one-handed with a .45 at 50 yards was "normal", and therefore achievable. Pistol competition has been fractured into multiple different disciplines and the defense crowd seems...

Re: New shooters - 1 hand or 2?
The college team I help coach teaches lots of total beginners. Start them on air pistol, and have them shoot one handed. There's no recoil to deal with, and having two hands on the pistol just allows more ways to push the sights out of alignment due to anticipation. If you start them out with the id...

Re: Hammerli AP20 Pro general impressions and grips
The college team I help coach has twenty six AP20's with the universal grip that we use for all the beginners. You can convert the cocking lever to left-handed, but it's a bit of a pain in the neck. We have one pistol we fully converted, but when we have additional lefties, we switch just the grip, ...

Re: CO2 to O2 conversion
IMG_6022.jpeg Thanks PJ and Doug. My Steyr CO2 cylinders have 250 bar ( 3626 psi ) stamped on them and that is why I don’t have pressure concerns using the 200 bar ( 2900 psi ) O2. That provides you with a nice big safety margin for CO2. Most of that will be gone if you try it as a PCP, and your cy...
