Mine does this on rare occasions, but only when I haven't been careful to hold the catch button down fully until the slide is firmly seated against it. If you are sure you are operating the stop fully, it sounds like the catch may be worn.

Testing off a bench is a good way to check for a problem with the pistol, but not as a method of fine tuning your sights. My wife had a problem with her Pardini a while back, with shots going all over the place. We quickly sorted out that they STILL went all over the place off the bench, which led u...

I've managed to buy bullets from CC in recent years, so they may be a small enough operation that the attorney general hasn't bothered bullying them into submission. I was going to call Ryley's this week to see what their prices were. I assume folks are shooting plain RWS, and not RWS 50 or 100. I a...

I've done some testing, and have been meaning to post the results when I had time to write them up in detail. I hooked up a digital oscilloscope to my pistol, and recorded the voltage waveform while dry-firing with a fresh Varta, both a fresh and a slightly used Eveready 504 (from Radio Shack), and ...

Depending on where you are in Massachusetts, you may want to drive to Hooksett, NH. Riley's Sport Shop has both RWS and Wolf in stock on the shelf as of 6 PM yesterday. That is good to know. It's a bit of a haul, but I drove past Hooksett this weekend. They are certainly within striking distance if...

Fixing a Fussy Pardini SP?

My wife has an older SP, and it has always been a little fussy about ammo. I got a case of Aguila Subsonic several years ago at the recommendation of Greg Derr, and with the exception of one box, it has performed flawlessly. Despite it being a nominally slower round, the subsonic has a relatively sh...

My dad built a pellet trap using strips of inner tube and the legs of old blue jeans. As was mentioned, the idea is to let them hang loose so that they can move and absorb the energy of the pellets when they get hit.

I've always been of the opinion that it's OK to shoot most target disciplines "cross dominant" as long as the vision in the aiming eye is fundamentally sound. Yes, it's better if everything matches up, but shooting with the "off" hand can be a bigger compromise than shooting with...

One thing to keep in mind when dealing with extractor problems is that it typically does NOT pull the cartridge out of the chamber. As long as your chamber is smooth & relatively clean, the case pushes the slide open from pressure in the barrel, and the extractor only goes along for the ride. AF...

Here are Nygord's instructions, copied from another thread. I believe the HP trigger is similar to the SP, in which case the drawings I posted recently may help. ----------- ADJUSTING THE PARDINI SP/HP TRIGGER This pistol is designed to have a two stage pull and most shooters who take the time to ge...

From what I've read here, documenting the inner workings of the MG2 is like trying to hit a moving target. They appear to be using their customers as guinea pigs while they get the bugs out of the design. It sounds like they are converging on a reliably functioning pistol. Given the somewhat radical...

Nobody has found any serious booboos or typos so far. I've tried to make the drawings a bit more legible by fattening up the line widths in some places. Even with all the pictures, it's hard to describe all of the interactions. My plan now is to go through the TT archives & collect as much info ...

This last one is a "Time Line" of the firing process, showing the sequence of events, and which screw adjusts which part of the cycle. The sequence is both more complex, and quite different from, what goes on in something like a High Standard. One of the things that threw me initially was ...

Pardini SP Trigger Adjustment Diagrams

Every few months, somebody asks how to adjust the trigger on an SP. I was confronted with the same problem recently. The instructions in the book aren't very detailed or clear, and the diagram in the manual for the SP New looks like a Fax of a bad scan. There is a good set of notes from Don Nygord t...

Folks should be aware that somewhere along the way (15 years ago?), Benelli changed the trigger/disconnector design in the MP90S. One of the reasons I bought one was so that I could use the red plastic widget to dry fire. By the time my dealer got one, it was the new design. It comes with a chamber ...

I have a Benelli MP90S, and the rifling is such that I will eventually get slight keyholing of my shots if I don't give the barrel a good scrubbing with a bronze brush occasionally. Nothing too dramatic, but definitely oval holes. The shots are typically close to call, but I suspect the accuracy isn...

Shooting With Mousing Hand?

I'm setting up a new computer at home, and I've heard two conflicting opinions on whether shooting & mousing are best done with the same hand. I noticed a number of years ago that I had a tendency to "jerk the trigger" with an aggressive motion when clicking the mouse button with my in...

Free Pistol Grip Angle & Elbow Pain?

Both my wife and I have problems shooting free pistol because of elbow pain. It seems to be aggravated by the excessive forward rotation of the hand required by the common grip designs. I have a Morini CM84E. A long time ago I crushed the sinovial membrane that cushions the elbow joint, and when it ...
