I have shot the Zero and the Magnus versions which both look to be similar to the old Star 185 swaged.
Use 4.0 BE. Have used down to 3.8 but 4.0 seems to tighten them up and doesn't offer much more in the way of recoil.

Not a stupid question. Length is probably a reasonable guide if they are of the same manufacturer.

The best method (one I am switching to) is to know what is in the gun and keep everything outside labeled so I know what is there and what I am changing to.

I'm fine with most all of it.
Bring more people into the game.
Anybody who wants to bring a Glock and compete against the experienced shooters who are using an accurized M9 or 1911 may have at it.

We can preserve ourselves into non-existence.

A couple things on the sight blackening The SuperSmoker is phenomenal. I have one in my Bullseye kit and one in my High Power kit. For air though, make sure that your sight is actually metal. If it is hard plastic and you use the smoker you could have a rude surprise. Personally, I don't like the sp...

What is better contrast to the target than black?

I have both. With the 41, I found that I had to go with the Clark barrel to get the balance that I liked. It increased the reliability also because it eliminated the steel over the chamber so cross bolt jam became nonexistent. The trigger is good but not as good as a High Standard in my opinion. The...

I wouldn't worry about it. I am going to surmise that the heat from the powder explosion is enough to completely liquify the lube.

I fit my 52-2 with a 1" slide mount dot last year. I have been shooting my standard load of 2.7g BE behind the 148g HBWC and it will function fine. I still have 1-2k of this loaded from previous life when I used the iron sights. However, I am going to try bumping that up to 2.8 or 2.9 and see i...

I did some testing in a rest of pellets in my FWB. Used different diameters and different weights. Every type of pellet (even those i considered practice) would shoot 1 hole. Some larger, some smaller, some round and some more oblong. All would put every shot in the 10 ring. Stopped worrying too muc...

My experience with .45 primer pockets is they tend to get larger in diameter. I am not sure about deeper. You said that it looked like the primers were deeper than others. Maybe check your loading setup for anything in the primer area. The might have been seated to shallow and part of the energy was...

Interesting

It's always interesting to see what people might come up with. I talked with Ed Masaki about his Dragon gun a couple of years ago at Perry but it was clearly unlikely that there would ever be production enough for me to even be on the list let alone pay the price. 1) What would your barrel length an...

To try and answer some of your questions. Marvel - the Marvel will carry you pretty much as far as you want to go. My shooting partner made the Mayleigh Cup shootoff with one in 2011. The importance of the lower is in the trigger. You might wind up replacing the entire hammer, trigger, sear etc if y...

1911 nut is correct.

Your conforming free pistol (check sight radius) could be fired in the slow fire match (the first 200 points). But you would have to shoot one pistol in the National Match Course so one slow fire with another pistol.

Mine stay in all the time. Some get used a lot, some not so much. Haven't notices anything attributable to damage in that manner.

I replace all the batteries at the beginning of the season whether I think they need it or not.

very little

In the later series (106 on I think) Trophy has gold trigger, slide release, magazine release and the Citation is Silver I think it had a slightly nicer blue job. If you are looking for a shooter, there is no difference in that respect. Make sure you don't get a Tournament or Sharpshooter with the s...

lots of options

I own a couple of victors and another Trophy, 208Sm M41 with Clark barrel. All are great guns but I am starting this year with a Marvel on a dedicated lower. The main reason for the change is trigger feel. I shot the M41 a lot but never felt the trigger matched that of the 1911 plunger triggers. I l...

length and crimp??

One thing that doesn't seem to be discussed is case length. This is especially an issue if you are using range pickup and trying to make the most consistent and accurate loads. The length of the case will affect the crimp. Crimp affect the velocity of the round and thus the accuracy. If your range p...

In my opinion gun safety is gun safety regardless. Air pistols are treated just like high power rifles in a match and should be treated as such in every other facet. If a person needs data to be convinced of that, then I would have ZERO to do with them in any way shape or form. If you don't take fir...
