Re: UH OH!!!
The problem with "belt and suspenders" idea is that the trousers rule 7.5.5.1 says it is going to be "belt OR suspenders". But a good idea!

Re: UH OH!!!
Don't worry about the clasp, leave that unclasped. Just use a belt and tighten that to where you are comfortable.

Re: 3 positions, different gloves
The one jacket and one trousers rule is covered under 7.5.1.2 and if you go read it, it is quite the dissertation. There is no mention of gloves. Gloves themselves are covered under 7.5.6. All kind of discussion about how thick and how long no mention limiting the number of gloves allowed. From an a...

Re: Where to buy Anschutz stop nut?
A few things on this: Now I am not an expert on the modern Anschutz ALU stocks, I did measure the threads for the adjusting columns for the buttplate system on my 1914 (wood stock with Precise cheekpiece). Now, for the buttplate columns, those guys are 15mm, not 12mm and the thread pitch is 1.5mm. T...

Re: Buying old .22lr rifle
A few posts back, discussing the bedding you stated I think Anschutz should have M6 mounting screws? Mine has M8 in front and M6 in the back. Both with fine thread. You are correct, Anschutz used M6-0.75 threads on their bedding screws, front and back. Your modification, M8 in front with M6 in back ...

Re: help a noob with aperture sights please....
Fields, Tim has some very sage advise here, start with the simple stuff and then turn up the "fancy" meter as you get more comfortable. Starting with the rear sights, as mentioned if you shop around and are patient an Anschutz rear sight with a 10 click turret can be found for about $150 U...

Re: help a noob with aperture sights please....
Patriot, I am going to join Bob Smalser's camp on this. Except for rare occasions getting started with iron sights is usually for the best. Yes, you are correct, once you have a handle on things, having a scope can help you diagnose subtle issues with NPA, hold, release, consistency of follow throug...

Re: trouble fitting ISSF pants for daughter
What you describe is a common issue, especially in fitting the junior ladies. Most pattern blanks, especially the few in the US, are geared toward male measurements. Then, just as you are experiencing, in the early teens when the dimensional ratio differences between the boys and girls start to show...

Re: help a noob with aperture sights please....
Fields, Looks like Tim has you pretty well set in terms of the mechanics of the sights. Just a few things to add: If you poke about on this site, gun broker, guns america and ebay it is not uncommon to find Anschutz sights, especially rear sights for sale. Expect to pay around $150 for an older used...

Re: Anschutz 54 'L" bolt
Also consider, that is not an L bolt, it is the traditional R bolt with a really long curved handle. You may, in order to get your bolt in and out need to remove the action from the stock. This is a bit of a guess but because the handle slings under the action it may need to go further back than the...

Re: help a noob with aperture sights please....
Ok,
Help us out here: You "have no sights" I interpret that to mean you have a rifle with a scope but no iron sights and you are looking to purchase sights and then get used to using them?
If so, what kind of rifle do you have, one of the Germans or something else?

Re: How Does my Kneeling Position Look?
From the picture (seems there is only one) you cannot see the right foot. When you said a "high kneeling" sitting on the side of my foot the only thing I could surmise was that you were sitting on the side of your foot on a roll. In general, foot sitting was considered a "low" kn...

Re: How Does my Kneeling Position Look?
Not even getting to the part where to put it politely, it does not look good, from what you describe, it is not even legal. USAS Rule 7.6.1.1(i),(j) i)If the kneeling roll is placed under the right foot or ankle, the foot must not be turned at an angle of more than 45 degrees; j) If the kneeling rol...

Re: Rocky Mountain Rifle Championship Feb. 2015
NMC_ The 50m target is covered under General Technical Rule 6.3.4.2. The aiming black is 112.4mm in diameter. The NRA uses the same bull on their A-50 target. Assuming you have a standard length barrel a 3.2mm front aperture is a good place to start for prone. Also with the sights, no lenses or magn...

Re: New Rifle Buying Tips
With the name Bleiker being tossed about I think it is important to keep this in context with the OPs needs, a relatively new junior moving from air rifle and trying smallbore. Is Bleiker a fine rifle?, absolutely!!! Do you see more and more of them in the finals at World Cup events?, yes. Is it rea...

Re: New Rifle Buying Tips
Not sure as I have lots more to add to the conversation but will reiterate a few points. I too think the idea of brand consistency gets overplayed. It sounds good on paper but I have yet to see much of a correlation with top level shooters trying to stay in a specific brand for both air and smallbor...
