Charlotte, I had to go look up the reference to "Big Lebowski", the fellow there was "The Dude" while I am "Just a Dude" so you are probably safe. Out of curiosity I did some measuring today. I took my 1978 vintage 1411 stock and a 79 vintage 1413 stock. The depth of th...

Going through the start of this topic here there are many good points, I also see a few places where I am going to throw in my 2 cents as the Devil's Advocate. While it does not need to be shooting I fully support the idea that every student should participate in some kind of physical club or sport ...

Charlotte, There are pluses and minuses to any solution. The point brought up regarding the deep fore end creating a low arm angle and difficulties having the barrel low enough to be comfortable while the postion is still legal is very valid. You mention that you are 5'!0", at that height I won...

Waisted, You are stating the problem as though the bullet acclerates to its final velocity and then hits the rifling to pick up the spin. Both happen at the same time. Most here are shooting some form of bolt action rifle. When the round is chambered and bolt closed the bullet is forced into the thr...

Go back to the part where I mentioned things that don't normally burn will, with great vigor. You do not even need a "normal" ignition source. Pure oxygen flowing over a burr inside a tube or around a sharp corner can be enough to start a fire. Also, two pieces of metal striking one anothe...

To echo the other responses, NEVER charge an airgun or anything else not specifically intended AND cleaned for use with pure oxygen with pure oxygen or oxygen enriched air. Many things that we do not normally consider flammable will burn vigorously in the presence of pure oxygen, this includes some ...

OK I am a rifle shooter here but our objectives are the same, to coax a firearm to to launch a tiny lead slug through the center of a black circle some measured distance away. I am going to paraphrase Lanny Bassham, if you worry about shooting nines you will shoot nines. If you think about shooting ...

The Bleiker sounds very nice. I have seen pictures, never one in person. I will toss out that for nostalgia reasons I would like to have and old Winchester 52E. OK, I know that today's modern stocks have advantages but you couldn't sell the factory Winchester target barrels short, they were often ve...

Walther makes a fine rifle and you do seem a few of them sprinkled about in the US. One thing I tell people to consider is parts availability should you need something. This would be my only concern with a Walther, if you need some part that is not universal to all European target rifles how long wo...

An 1813 barrelled action will drop into a 1413 stock. You will have to remove the safety mechanism from the side of the 1813 trigger and you may have to do some minor inletting to the trigger well to get the 1813's wider trigger to fit into the trigger well. Nothing major.
