Re: Budget precision rifles
Good Morning Vibin, So you are ready to transition to precision air rifle? Cool! You ask a number of questions about equipment so I will start with the rifle first. While you may find some older 'single stroke pneumatic' rifles out there for under $1000 you really want to focus on the more modern 'p...

Is there someone in your area with gunsmith skills that might have some head space gauges? Sounds like the head space might be on the tight side.

Re: Sporter to Precision Growing Pains
Being a southpaw does present its challenges in this sport. I will try to touch on a few of the points you are facing here: bdutton is correct, it is possible to purchase 'off the rack' shooting clothing for about 25% of the cost of a custom suit. There has gotten to be this belief that somehow a cu...

Re: Which Globe
If this is a FWB 800 then yes, something labeled for FWB should work. I suppose that someone could put a different rail on the FWB but I have never heard of anyone doing that. The wide part of the dovetail for your first globe at 10mm sounds like it was intended for a Walther but in the wrong box. G...

Re: NCAA Air Rifle 2023
Way back 'in da day' when light international jackets were first mandated, you could ball one up and stuff it in the corner of your kit bag. I have one of the current and very popular Capapie suits. There is no balling it up and stuffing it anywhere. 2 years on of being used at least once a week and...

Re: Which Globe
I am going to go with Tim S here: What kind of gun do you have? For the rear sight, they all reference an 11mm dovetail when say for Anschutz the wide part tends around .470 or as you note, 11.9mm (Closer to 12mm) Now, for front sights, Walther is closer to 9mm so that absolutely won't work. Anschut...

Re: Identifying when your athlete is outperforming their rifle.
An additional thought on all of this, if you have a developing shooter and there is a debate about getting new equipment as opposed to club or borrowed equipment, simply research, select and purchase but don't make the purchase conditional on a specific feature of the new gun. It is easy to say 'Oh,...

Re: Identifying when your athlete is outperforming their rifle.
I am not so concerned with the adjustability of the stock as I am the age of the rifle.... R10 should be fine pellets. Yes, you can get more performance if you do lot selecting but for the most part any tin of R10 will perform acceptably well for most shooters in most guns. A P70... I would be very ...

Re: Identifying when your athlete is outperforming their rifle.
A few random questions: Is this an air rifle or a smallbore? The text seems to imply air rifle but want to check. What kind of pellets or ammo is she using. (You can have a great rifle but if you are putting crappy pellets/ammo through it you will not get results) To that end: what make and model of...

Re: Age Groups? What is "S1, S2, S3" ?
S1, S2, S3 are designations used by USAS shooting apparently handed down from ISSF.
CMP uses 'Senior' or (O60) for 60 and up and 'Grand Senior' for 70 an up. CMP Rule 3.4.2
Have not seen 'senior' events for any of the high level ISSF stuff let alone USAS coming up with the cash to send them.

Not proprietary, 26mm is pretty much 26mm regardless of whose name is on the gun.

Re: Age Groups? What is "S1, S2, S3" ?
Be careful with the link above, it is for supported shooting. At one time the limits for the traditional air rifle and smallbore events were S1=50, S2=60, S3=70. Now, that changed say a year ago to, I think 45,60 and 70. It is all hearsay as I I have not seen it in writing anywhere. Good Luck, your ...

Re: Question re Torquing Anschutz Action Screws
Being an older American guy, my torque wrench was done in in-lbs. In my testing over the years the majority of the 'round' Match 54 Actions shoot their best at 45 in-lbs of bedding torque. This is remarkably close to 5 nm of torque on the metric wrench. (5nm = 44.25 in-lbs) When I was just but a wee...

Re: KK500
It is a good question as every time I click on something in the waltherarms.com website I get beamed over to carl-walther.com. The rifle in carl-walther.com that matches 2863928M is your bread and butter KK500 Expert. No electronic trigger, no special (green) pigment to the wood parts, a standard we...

Re: Gehmann polarizer
I have messed with polarizers some, many years ago but not specifically the Gehmann 551. I do not currently shoot with one. Part, or a lot of this is going to depend on the range you are shooting on: If you are on a range that is pretty open to the sky, so that light will predominantly be from one d...

While so much if this is just incremental changes on air rifle technology, the part with the trigger mounted directly to the grip as opposed to the action is very innovative.

Re: Triangular aperture
This was an idea that first popped up about 10 year ago or so. The idea was it would be easier for the eye and the brain to center a circle inside a triangle as all that needed to be done was make sure that three points on the circle were equal in distance to the sides of the triangle. From everythi...

Re: 1903 Trigger
Upgrading the entire rifle is likely the most prudent course forward. Certainly look for a used before biting the bullet (bad pun) on a new one. I saw another post where you mentioned your daughter is 5'6" at 115 lbs. Given her relative height, she should not need any radical modifications to t...

Re: 1903 Trigger
Tim S is correct, adjustments on the 5098 trigger are limited and first stage/second stage are not independently adjustable. I am a little concerned when you say 'mechanical grinding' or is that just a flamboyant way of saying creep? If you get the sensation of metal on metal grinding or grit in the...
