Re: OLYMPIC GAMES TOKYO, JAPAN 24 JUL – 3 AUG 2021 - shooting schedule
I do not think anyone streamed. Sad. It depends on the contract between the IOC and the media provider(s) in your location. In the USA, the finals were streamed live and replays are available through nbcolympics.com. There's a sign-in process and it's not as simple as clicking a link but it's not h...

Re: Video from Tokyo?
If you don't have a provider(or don't know how your account info), then you can sign up for Peacock for a month and also gain access. I did that but I couldn't find any way to view any shooting sports. They had lots of other stuff but no shooting. Maybe they were just behind. I'll look again, today...

Re: Video from Tokyo?
As an aside, long after Olympics.com had posted the results, the ISSF results page still had no information. I emailed ISSF media relations about this and they actually answered back, telling me that it was an IOC rule that they were not allowed to post results on their website. They could write a ...

Video from Tokyo?
My apologies if this has been covered elsewhere but a search of the forum showed no results so I thought I'd ask here since an air rifle event was the first one impacted. In the United States, there were supposed to be a few alternatives for watching shooting sports at the Tokyo Games. The Women's A...

But the fact is that he can show you things in seconds that are very difficult or impossible to explain in writing or with words. Sometimes, though, his words are exactly what we need. I admire Brian a great deal for his honesty. He did me the biggest favor I can imagine during the first clinic I t...

Free pistols are wonderful for unlimited class rimfire silhouette shooting. Too bad that sport is mostly moribund.sparky wrote:I'm guessing prices might fall even more, because unlike RFPs, you can't use them in other disciplines, like bullseye.

Any "after action reports"?
I've been twice and I'm always curious what other people think of the clinic.

Re: Idea for a 45ACP pistol design?
I'm thinking a gas-delayed blowback ... I've never run across an H&K P7 that wasn't surprisingly accurate. It has a fixed barrel and a gas-delayed blowback action that is quite simple. That sort of mechanism atop a 1911-ish frame (for the ergonomics and the trigger) would be interesting. If it ...

...this all works assuming...there are no underlying health issues. Thank you so very much for including that proviso. Many of us diabetics know that our prescription can drift +/- a full diopter pretty easily over the course of a day. We tend to need to put a bit more thought into our eyewear than...

Almost exactly, except substitute a .45 ACP and it only took one hit.Zipp0 wrote:Do you mean 'friends' like this?
That video was weird. What do you call shooting the chrono twice in one session? Persistence is usually an admirable trait but not when it comes with a lack of brains like that.

Hi BE-TX - here is my ramble-answer... And an incredibly thoughtful and helpful answer, it was. I appreciate it very much. At least I now know that they're actually shipping in quantity. Due to the bad initial contacts I had with them, I had just permanently filed them in my mind under "vaporw...

Re: NRA writing off competitive shooters
I had never heard of the ILA until now. I've never before seen a distinction made between the two. A long time ago, when discussions like this came up, it was useful to point out that the NRA and the Institute for Legislative Action were different things. They are different business entities with d...

I tried to send them money for literally years (since early 2014). They promised me a unit, then said the first 25 were pre-production and went to reviewers. The president wrote me a personal email promising me a unit from the next batch. Then...nothing. I harangued them at SHOT and got more promise...

... being rabidly anti-legislation wouldn't have helped UK shooters. It probably would have if they had started 30 (or 50 or 80) years sooner. Attend, for example, the annual Gun Rights Policy Council meetings and hear just how hard some shooters are working to win back some basic human rights in p...

Got a letter from Wayne..he called me his friend right at the start and stated how proud he was to have me as a friend... I became a Golden Eagle just to get the hat. It comes with a letter from Wayne saying that he'll stop whatever he's doing and shake the hand of anyone he sees wearing that hat. ...

More important is getting your "scrip" right. Quoted for truth. One thing I see mentioned too rarely in these threads is the fact that it's impossible to get a perfect scrip if you're diabetic. You can get a near-perfect one if your exam was on a day when your blood sugar was perfect. The...

Re: New Manurhin MR73 Match shipment arrives in Oz.
Err. ... Thanks. That was great stuff and very well produced. It also brings to my mind the sad fact that the ISSF sticks y'all with strictly short-range revolvers. The video included silhouette shooting, making all this talk of revolver quality seem incomplete without a mention of Picra or Freedom...

Re: Adjustable focus glasses - for shooting
The Variolens has that technology, but specifically for shooting. Thanks for that info. I knew nothing about the Variolens. It's good to know that if my eyes ever deteriorate outside the range for which they can be corrected by my Superfocus glasses, there is an alternative. Seriously, though, even...

Re: Adjustable focus glasses - for shooting
Last Saturday, a shooting buddy was using his "Superfocus" glasses, yes the very expensive, "Harry Potter" ones. He's owned his for a couple of years. I asked him about them and he said that they work great, but that the company had gone out of business. He was shooting an air p...

Get a copy of Dr Norman Wong's guide for optometrists at http://www.starreloaders.com/edhall/nwongmain/eyeguide.html Your regular optometrist should be able to sort it out. I feel the need to make a comment about that and how it doesn't necessarily work out unless you still go to the trouble of fin...
