The gun is advertised at 360 fps--less than your suggested minimum of 400 fps. That sounds like the likely culprit.

Target holes

I've been shooting a IZH Baikal for a while. It makes nice, crisp holes in the paper targets. I recently bought a CO2 pellet gun with a rifled barrel. It is making ragged holes with the same pellets as I use on the IZH. I assume the pellets are key-holing. But why would they? Any ideas? Also, with t...

And don't load a warm gun with cold ammo. You will end up with condensation in the chamber.

Re: Why US Citizens are armed

Apart from the good joke, I’ve always felt save in the USA. I’m fond of the west (apologies to the east). I’ve noticed that some people carried concealed guns (after 38 years in law enforcement one gets an eye for that). And I guess they had a permit. When you see someone carrying a hidden gun in E...

Maintainence, IZH 46M

I have an IZH 46M for a while now and all the maintenance I've done on this gun is clean the bore with an airgun oil saturated swab.

What else do I need to do to keep this gun running?

Regards,

Thanks for the reply. The groups are fairly tight either way--a little better on the two hand hold. Another strange point is that I have to move the Merit iris to a different position for the two hand hold. I have not figured that out either. I think the two might be related. I'll shoot some more an...

I would guess that you could simply drill a hole in the clip on glasses and then use some black nail polish to darken the area around it. I like the idea. It would work for carry conceal firearms as it would not be readily apparent to the casual observer that these are "peep" sunglasses. M...

I just got mine; it hardly looks like $60.00 worth of equipment. I think I would just get some black contact paper, punch a hole and stick it on my old glasses. Once you get the position right it should be just as effective. Corrective glasses are available over the counter (no prescription needed) ...

A moving point of aim

I took up airgun shooting to improve my firearms skills. I practice shooting with a standard "Olympic" one arm style, and a two hand modified Weaver stance. When I shoot with the one arm stance my shots are grouped around the bulls-eye. When I shoot with the 2 arm stance the grouping moves...

I had that problem too, but I got some Un-Fuzz solution and applied it to the sights and it cleared it right up. No damage to the blueing either. This is made by the same people who produce In-Focus Solution (for out of focus negatives) so you know it is a quality product. The photo end of their bus...

Basically stock

I was reading a magazine article and they quoted Glock as saying that Jessica Abbate shot a model 24 that was "basically stock". What modifications would they do that they could still call the weapon "basically stock"? (The model 24 is a 9mm Glock with a 6 inch barrel and a longe...

I think that "optics are optics" and what works for a camera will be the same that works for your eyes. Camera manufacturers have always strove to make the adjustable iris as round as possible. Additionally when fixed apertures are used they are always round. The other factor (that is ofte...

Packard, You must have large hands, as I just tried my wife's IZZY with a 2 hand grip and the only problem is the excess wood in the grip (which would not be there with a .45 style grip). The only way I can get the cocking lever in the way is to use a "cup" grip instead of the usual "...

Are you sure it hasn't helped your .45 shooting? Have you given it a try? Why not make a .45 style grip for the IZZY/ The cocking mechanism gets in the way of the 2 hand grip. I thought of removing the base of the grip but the cocking mechanism will still be in the way. I don't know if it has helpe...

Thanks for the reply. It makes sense to me. I am rather amazed with the results I'm getting. However I am not working towards my goal of improving my two hand hold shooting doing this. Can you suggest a modestly priced air gun with reasonable accuracy capabilities that will allow a 2 hand hold? I'd ...

What is the mechanism?

For years I've shot firearms (Gov't .45 mostly) in a two hand modified Weaver stance. I got the pellet gun to improve my pistol shooting. When I first started shooting my IZH 46M I tried to use a two hand hold (but it really does not work with that grip and cocking mechanism so I reverted to a one h...

I calculated (roughly) 4.7 feet. I should have written 4.7, but I wrote 4' 7".

I've had it at the right height all along.

(No need to repeat yourself, however.)

We used to have these thin sheets of removable film with a hole cut in it. You placed it on your glasses when shooting, and peeled it off when you were done.

Does anyone still make this stuff?
