1811

This is a 1811 prone rifle from probably the mid 80's. The value is substantially less than a 1813 would be but the barreled action and trigger alone is worth more than the 200 lbs. the guy from England quoted. If you could go to England and buy 1813's for 200-600 lbs. a guy could buy a boat load of...

An 1813 is a free rifle with hook butt plate thumbhole stock and shallow forend ect built for shooting 3p. A prone rifle is a1811 . An 1810 is a 3p rifle like a 1813 except that the forend is deep and designed to be used without a palm rest. A true 1813 should fetch about $1500-1800. More with sights.

With the opening of the Lapua and Eley test facilities in Texas and Arizona could they be one cause of the shortage? They both guarantee a selection of lots to test for all their brands and availability of the ammo you select. That has to suck up a very large amount of ammo into the hundreds or even...

team membership

In almost all NRA matches team members must be a member of the team for which they are shooting and the club must be affiliated with NRA. In addition the team members must have been a member of the club for 30 days prior to the match. Exceptions to this rule are Junior and Collegiate matches. There ...

Kneeling

As Dude implied once you get kneeling it will be hard to shoot a 9. Prone is just lie down, dont move and crank them down range. Standing is athletic ability. kneeling is highly technical. Lots of expermentation and minute changes are requried. While I am sure there are lots of great ideas in this p...

Sam Gates

I am pretty sure I paid Sam over $300 for my sights. $400 seems reasonable if they are the same quality Sam made.

What are the serial numbers made by Bowers?

I dont know of anyone who would turn loose of a Sam Gates sight for $300. They are the best sights ever made for smallbore.

"10x" rifle

You lost me at 2 minute groups at 50 yds. I can't believe a gunsmith who claimed to be making match grade smallbore rifles would put out a POS like this. My kids' Anschutz Acheivers shoot better groups. I also can't believe you are even contimplating fixing this yourself. Get your two grand back and...

On the contrary the President of the ISSF , Olegario Vazquez Rana, shot in several Olympbcs and held 2 world records. Gary Anderson the VP has 2 Olympic Golds and several world records. While I dont know who actually put pen to paper about the rules, it sure seems like the ISSF needs new blood . The...

Paul aren't you glad we are too old to have to worry about learning this new stuff? This is all about TV as if this is a made for tv sport like rythmic gymnastics. The introduction of the finals in about '85 was just to make it more interesting for tv. This is total Bull stuff and is not precision s...

new issf rules

I had a long discussion with a vendor about this. I was told that it is more likely that pant rules will be changed than coat. Even to the extent of out lawing shooting pants. I hope this is the case or we get back to the old days of light coat vs heavy coat that was an issue in the 60's and 70's in...

bsa

What you really need to worry about when shooting a BSA in prone matches is the shooter two points to your right. You should make sure it is a smaller shooter. When ejecting brass the BSA sends it flying at least 2 points down to hit that shooter and he could get really MAD. It may sound like I am j...

nearsighted

I have shot smallbore for decades with some sort of glasses. Tryed every thing you suggested except lasix. The only thing that really worked for me was old style hard contact lenses. The advantage of these lenses is that it actually changes the shape of your eye (I think) and can correct for all sor...

That is without question the stupidest idea i have ever heard of for a piece of shooting equipment.

Sounds like something a rifle manufacturer would come up with. Sell under another name and then sell a new gun every 6 months or so to the idiots who bought the rest.

You need to be careful in that rulebook to choose between regular 3p and the stupid sporter rules which won't let you use, wear, or do anything to improve your score or technique and forces the shooter to do things wrong.

There is no reason one needs to wear shoes of any kind in prone. I have often seen top shooters shoot bare foot or in sandals, flipflops ect.

52b trigger

The only trigger fit to put into a 52b is a Kenyon. But Karl passed away a few weeks ago at over 90. You will have a very hard time finding one for it.
