Re: New NRA Director of Competions Named
Joe I like what you said except that it is not "Camp Perry time" anymore. It's BF Indiana time.

Re: CMP Smallbore at Camp Perry 2018?
Christie Sewell, whose Facebook page says she is an employee of CMP, posted the following on Facebook on July 20: "CMP Smallbore at Camp Perry for the 2018 Nationals Matches. Smallbore Matches will be shot on Rodriquez and Young ranges. Firing line will be set up close to the road for easy acce...

Re: Getting rid of prone 8 ring wobble-how tight hold w/fore
There is nothing more important in prone smallbore shooting than the total relaxation of virtually every muscle in the body. Obviously the trigger finger needs to have tension in it but every thing else should be totally relaxed and (listen carefully, this part is important) you should mentally tell...

64 model has a black metal band over the top of the bolt to keep the extractors attached. The 54 is smooth on the top of the bolt.

Re: Scope power for NRA Prone Smallbore?
I used two Leupold scopes for conventional prone. One in 24X at short range and one in 36X at 100. It worked great for me. You can see better at 100 and it does away with the need to adjust the focus from one range to another and click for elevation. It takes no more time to change out the scope bet...

Interesting . Thanks
Maybe 3 decades ago I would have been able to shoot it.

Re: 300m Free rifle
Almost as importantly is where do you shoot it? Are there any matches in America? NRA Mid-Range matches (or long range, depending on your chosen caliber/desire of wind challenge), are certainly open to you, too. Just gotta take the butt hook off before you lie down to those! If you are referencing ...

Re: Champion shooter supply
I have been doing business with Carl and Sandy since they bought the business from Fredell in the 70s and then bought Freelands. Both are exceptionally helpful and friendly. I don't think anyone in America knows more about fitting shooting clothes for junior shooters, has a better inventory, and dea...

Talk is cheap guys.
I assume the crap about the CMP taking over the smallbore and highpower and moving them back to Perry was as I suspected at the time an April Fools joke.

Re: Getting back in after a really long break / Walther KK50
35? Really that old? You have no chance yet. When Mike Anti was 40 he won Silver in the 04 Athens Olympics and finished 9th in 08. Lones Wigger won Gold in 300 M 3p in the 72 Munich Olympics at 35. While no where near their level I never started shooting well until I was 30. I shot my first national...

Re: Is it worth considering a light or women rifle.
If you have short arms you might want to consider where the loading port is relative to the trigger. The further forward it is the harder it is to load in prone. The Anschutz 19 and 20 series are the worst of all for this with the 54.30 being slightly better but the Walther KK 500 and Bleiker have t...

Re: Advice on Smallbore rifle
If I could add my 2 cents. I too have a kid who is less than tall and struggles to load an Anschutz in prone. The Anschutz 19 and 20 loading ports are well ahead of the trigger making it hard for some to load in position. The 54.30 brings it back some but not much. But, as we all know nothing is too...

Re: Lens
Here is my 2 cents from a life time of trying to shoot with bad eyes. Check with your Dr about having the cataracts fixed. If you can't see clearly you can't shoot. If you mostly do indoor shooting I highly recommend you try hard contact lenses. Hard lenses remove a multitude of potential vision pro...

You can't buy your way to a gold medal but you can cheap your way to last place.

Sorry Hap I stand corrected. I thought I had seen somewhere that you were on the SB committee. Not too long ago I asked a member of the BOD, that we both know, who was on the committee and she refused to tell me. Also I have voted for you every time you were on the ballot (except when I don't get th...

Re: A National Match Discussion
Well Hap, you are on the Smallbore Committee. Why don't you fill us in on where things stand? Maybe it is because the NRA will not tell us anything that the rumor mill is cranked up. Ever since the first announcement on Smallbore moving to Bristol for "2 years" which was crap from the very...

Like Soupy I am a smallbore shooter. The first time I went to Perry it rained for 5 of 6 days . It was shoot, dry your eqpt. do it again tomorrow. I hated it so much I went back every year for 35 years. Its the National Championships folks. It should be a challenge. In smallbore if you can shoot hal...

Sandy at Champion Shooters will help you out with a suit for your kid either new or used. The great thing is when your kid outgrows it they will take it back and let you trade up.
