Re: iris Foresight

Anschutz makes a front sight with inside and outside independently variable. That way you can change the thickness of the ring.

Re: Resources for mastering the kneeling position?

Three ideas and they cost nothing. 1. Read Pullam and Hanenkrat's book. 2. Go to the range and shoot kneeling until you can't walk and do it again tomorrow. 3. If you live in Central Texas go see the Bashams. If they can't get you into a kneeling no one can. There web site is: http://mentalmanagemen...

Re: How do I find a riflesmith?

Alan your analysis might be accurate if you were shooting indoors off a bench. If you are shooting prone outdoors off the shoulder however a 1.6 in 100 yd group is a consistent loser. Lets start with the execution. It is hard to break a shot on smaller than a bullet hole. Not a .22 but the actual ho...

Re: Anschutz Modell 1411/1413 Match 54

An Anschutz barrel is marked with a 2 digit year designation. A 1400 series may be single or dual extractor. The main difference between a 1400 and 1800 is the 1800 has a very fast lock time and this matters a lot. Also most 1400 barrels have been around so long that most have lost their edge and it...

Re: Bleiker and Grünig versus Anschütz

My 2 cents. In America shooters at all levels above beginner are quicker to cut an under performing barrel off and mount a custom barrel.

F class is for geezers like me who are too old and infirm to shoot off the shoulder and too stubborn and stupid to quit.

Re: action confusion

Bob your response with the two examples on auction sites is very much an apples and oranges comparison. The first is a $500 Anschutz 1407 from about 1965 with a serial number of 10557. The barrel is covered in rust, single extractor non adjustable butt plate and one stage trigger. In my opinion this...

Jordan, it has been my experience that most Anschutz nuts can be found behind the bolt.

And of course another solution is to forget Air , shoot prone, crack open a cold adult beverage at the end of the day and forget the shooting pants.

Re: Tuners

Abi I am not an expert on tuners but when I put mine on my rifle the group size was reduced by about 25%. It is integrated with a bloop tube though. I have never played with it since it seemed to work out of the box. Some shooters test different settings and some say the biggest advantage is to be a...

Re: Shooting pants

Sandy Joss at Champion Shooters Supply is in my opinion the best option for shooting coats and pants for kids. The reason is they have a large selection of used stuff. And, as kids have an irritating habit of outgrowing clothes they will take them back at the price you paid if you buy the next set f...

Re: action confusion

"Confusion" is the right word for it. I am sure that the people at Anschutz have "marketing experts" on the staff, but some of the things they do with model numbers is incomprehensible and Byzantine. Now to start, the stocks and actions have different numbers and sometimes the ba...

Re: sight picture

Don't know how your front is mounted on the barrel or if it is a factory barrel but if you have a block mounted sight, the screw holes that mount the sight block could be not in alignment with the bore.

Re: Free rifle or standard rifle for a returning youth shoot

I would recommend a custom made prone stock for an adult. I don't know if anyone in Europe does them but in America the best I have ever seen is done by Alex Sitman at Masterclassstocks.com

He can build you a rifle that will fit perfectly and shoot 10s all day.

Re: New Rifle Buying Tips

As to the shorter barrel the length doesn't seem to matter but the sight radius matter a lot so a bloop tube would be an essential with a shorter barrel. I would say step up in quality when your wallet can handle it. Life is too short to shoot a second rate gun or ammo. And no bad shot can be blamed...

Re: Olympic Rapid fire Pistol

Thanks for the information guys. Could you be a little more specific about what pistols to start with, keeping in mind its a new pistol shooter and $ are a factor. Also it sounds like the first 60 are done more or less the way it always was - 5 shots in 8, 6 and 4 seconds at 5 targets. And the big c...

Olympic Rapid fire Pistol

Could someone give me information on current Olympic Rapidfire Pistol. What pistols are used, a reasonable starter gun targets ect.

I understand there have been some changes in the rules since I was last around international shooting and I think my son would like to get started .
