Re: Off hand hold and rifle cant
An upright position is most often more stable. Standing straight up is more relaxed than standing in oddly contorted positions, and relaxation nearly always means more stable. As mentioned above, the older positions caused major back problems, and with current skill levels on the international level...

Re: Accuracy issues
Tuner. It's the only answer. But in all seriousness, start with the springs, then the firing pin, then the torque, then the muzzle, then the headspace. I would also suggest using some JB paste on the bore. It usually helps. Also barrels DO wear out. I have like 100k through mine and it is getting cl...

Re: Newbie Question: Does the gun make the shooter?
If you can afford it, get good equipment off the bat. A good rifle (I don't shoot much pistol) will shoot so much better than a lower quality one that you will be able to more accurately assess your technique and make improvements. I kinda think its like trying to race F1 with a Toyota Camry. Since ...

Contact SCATT USA and they will probably send you a program that will fix it. That's what they did with me.

Re: Can't Shoot Irons
I would suggest opening up that front sight. I am 24 and shoot with a 3.8-4.0 in prone (light depending) with a 35 inch sight radius or so, and I am definitely not on the big side. Another thing you might think about is the distance between your eye and rear iris. Do you have plenty of space around ...

Re: Please help me from FWB 800x or Walther LG400 Alutec Exp
I like the Walther. If you set it up correctly, you can load it in position like a Pardini. Nice feature to have. But some people it doesn't work well for.

Re: training for offhand
I don't think it would help. Holding without the jacket will though. One drill to do at home would be something like this: Get everything set up minus the jacket, point at a blank wall and do some holding. Since you said you are focusing on balance, focus on getting your balance between your heel an...

Re: Any tips with leg going numb in kneeling?
Simply put... get used to it. I don't mean to be blunt or insulting, but for a 40 shot kneeling match I don't know anyone who makes it without pain or numbness. Rocking forward can help a bit, but really if you train kneeling you will get used to it and will be able to focus regardless. Similar to t...

Re: Cheek pieces - best design?
From my experience the idea behind having a sharper edge on a cheekpiece is to have a very defined edge to locate your face on the same way every time. I used a MEC cheekpiece for a long time, but switched to a wooden one with a sharper edge on it. I then modified this so it doesn't contact the rear...

Re: does anyone have "clothing measuring" tools calibrated?
A big chunk of suits don't pass out of the box, especially canvas suits. I had issues with my pants being too stiff on a few panels because the seams that surround the panels didn't flex as much as the panel itself. As for the waist belt, it was probably a thickness error. The way the thickness gaug...

Re: Bee sting tuner
So to answer the OP: The beesting has two problems that I have seen with it. Firstly the tube is a pain in the butt to clean. One of my teammates at school had one, and we had a "race" to see how long it took to clean the beesting vs my Upta. His took about 5 times longer than mine. Second...

Re: Shoulder strap on three positions
The way I read the answer from the ISSF is as follows: When the buttons are checked the straps must be loose/undone. You can shoot the match with the straps wherever you want them, but in the event of a post equipment control check, the straps must be undone. That's how I read it. From my personal e...

Re: 8002 vs 9003
As to the collegiate competitors part the action itself is probably the least important part of the rifle and the stock the most important. The stock is what the shooter interfaces with the most, and the action design is somewhat irrelevant and mostly personal preference. The most important feature ...

Re: adjustable aperture air rifle
Yes they are legal in ISSF. Kinda pointless though. Once you find what size you want, you don't really ever need to change it. Mine has been at 4.1 for like 4 years.
I really like the Centra High End inserts.

Re: Walther Trigger blade VARIO vs Walther EXPERT trigger bl
I have the Vario on my rifle. It works just fine. Many of the top shooters in the US really like the Tec Hro "Touch Point" trigger because the point is so defined it allows to have a very consistent placement of the finger.

Re: MEC Mark I SB stock
I have a MEC Mark 1 stock for the 2013 action. I have been shooting with it for 5 years or so. I don't have it right in front of me, but I don't think the cheekpiece will move that far over to the right. I just use risers that move the sights laterally to the left. If you shoot three position, one o...

Re: feinwerkbau 800x or walther lg 400 anatomic need help
Ryan makes a really good point about the 800: it breaks. I personally know at least 5 people who have had major problems with them. Including barrels changed, regulators changed, and pretty much everything changed and replaced. Only one of those people still shoots the 800. I really like the LG 400....

Re: Flying with rifle case
I have only ever heard of one account of someone being charged oversize for a rifle case. Going from memory it was on AA or US. It was the entire Ole Miss rifle team and ended up paying a few thousand dollars for all the guns. This is literally the only problem I've ever heard. Usually they are so f...

Re: Scope options for smallbore....
Some people think I am nuts (including Justin Tracy, Nancy Tompkins, and Eric U) but I have always used a Weaver T36. Personally I only ever had a problem with the magnification the first time I shot with it, but I soon got used to it. That being said, I have never shot standing with a scope, but I ...

Re: Which jacket for Smallbore & High Power
Having shot both across the course and the ISSF events, I have tried both kinds of jackets. If you're only going to shoot prone, the Creedmoor Hardback is fine, but I would never suggest it for any other position. This is my reasoning: The concept of an NRA legal coat is to essentially be a corset f...
