Gotta respect those sale quantity limits

Spent a good part of the morning calling around looking for small pistol primers. Most all of the local stores said they haven't seen any in probably 6 months or more. One of the big box sporting goods stores though said they did have some Remington #1 1/2 in stock. I generally prefer Federal but it...

To rib or not?

I've a 1950's vintage S&W K-38 with the standard "heavy" 6" barrel. I use it both for Steel Challenge and Bullseye matches... just a matter of which grips I put on it. I recently found a Bo-Mar rib that was made for that particular barrel. It's the rib with the "winged" ...

Muzzlebrake on a revolver

Found one of those "clamp-on" muzzlebrakes that were made for Smith & Wesson revolvers years back. Has anyone actually used one and does it significantly reduce muzzle jump?

Revolver vs red dot

Have been taking my vintage K-38 out to play lately. Currently have a red dot sight mounted on it but am seriously considering going back to irons. The red dot is great for slow fire... works acceptably well for timed fire but I just can't keep within the time limit for rapid fire unless I go to fir...

Definitely go with the adjustable shelf... hand size varies with the weather and such. I had mine made by Dick Horton... he did a wonderful job.

I had the blade replaced on my K-38. Turned out real well.

In 38 Spl the bevel base bullets are a little easier to start in the case when reloading.... 45 ACP (or any other caliber) would probably be the same.

I think that one at 3 o'clock in the 10 ring is only 2 holes, not 3. That would make a total of 10 shots.

Additionally you can tell who manufactured the ammo by the lot number. If the ammo was put together by Federal the lot number will begin with a number. If it was put together by CCI then the lot number will begin with a letter.

I really can't notice much performance difference at all between the old paper box, the new paper box or the plastic box versions. They all seem to shoot pretty much the same out of my Model 41.

Fortunately I have a reasonable supply of CCI SV on hand (another case being delivered this week). My Model 41 has a definite preference for it.

So far my best "recorded" match is 272.... maybe tonite I will be able to raise that a point or two. Congrats on your 100 target... I have yet to get above a 98. Should be picking up a key to the indoor range this week then will be able to get in some much needed practice at my convenience.

Last night was the second outing. Decided that I wanted to try Federal 510's since I had 8 unopened bricks plus 3 or 4 50rd boxes. I'd installed one of the Buffer Technologies buffers so wasn't particularly worried about the higher velocity ammo causing any appreciable damage. Fired the normal 900 m...
