Wish I could afford to. With the housing market the way it has been for the past few years that just isn't going to happen. Will probably be stuck here until I die.Philadelphia wrote:Better yet, move to a free state and leave the place to implode under the weight of its own utopian pie in the sky policies.

Looks like I owe Precision Delta an apology... it wasn't their bullets at all !!! Turned out to be a build-up of old waxy bullet lube (Rooster Red) that had been there for who knows how long. Then when loading the graphite coated Precision Delta bullets that plug of wax got covered with graphite mak...

Doesn't Dillon use one die for bullet seating and then a separate die for crimping? Fine for a progressive press but I use one of the Lyman turret-tops. Would make for yet another step... easier to just switch to a less messy bullet. Hornady looks like it might be a player and wouldn't cost all that...

Hopefully you reload. I've enough primer, powder and scrap wheelweight to keep me in 38 Spl for the next 4 or 5 years. Rimfire could be a problem though. I order in a case of CCI SV whenever I find it in stock at a reasonable price. With any luck that stupid law will be repealed before it takes effe...

Found a fly in the ointment with those Precision Delta 148gr HBWC bullets... very similar to the problem noted with the Remington bullets a couple posts above. Precision Delta uses what seems to be a wax/graphite mix for a lube. Doesn't take long for it to start building up on the seating plug there...

Rem HBWC vs Speer or Hornady
Have been looking for 38 cal 148gr HBWC bullets in bulk. The Remington version generally seems to run about half the price of the Speer or Hornady ones (when you can find any at all of any brand). Is there really all that much of a difference in quality? Do the Remingtons generally perform as well a...

Just wondering how useful others find this adjustable iris. Tried one for the first time tonight... didn't help my score a bit but I could sure see the red dot a lot clearer. Thinking of buying one. Those of you that have used one.... do you still use it regularly? Or would the Ahg blinder with the ...

Right now I don't purchase bullets at all... I cast all my own using scrap wheelweight with a pound or two of linotype added to each 20 pound pot. I'm using the Lyman #358091 148gr bevel base button nose wadcutter. If I ever find one of the old Lyman hollow base wadcutter molds I would like to give ...

Took it out for the first time this afternoon. Tried various charges of W-231, Win WST and good ol' bullseye. Everything was pretty mediocre except for some 2.8 bullseye loads that I had loaded the bullet backwards... the button nose becoming the base of the bullet. That looked pretty promising at 2...

Loading for a S&W Model 52
Had one back in the late 70's or early 80's... have no idea why I ever let it go. Bought a 1983 vintage last week.... it's currently in mid Kalifornia 10 day Hostage Hold. Back then I was loading a 148gr double ended wadcutter ahead of 2.7gr bullseye. Really a no brainer when it came to flush seatin...

Bevel base vs flat base
For 148gr 38 cal wadcutters do the bevel base or flat base versions work better? I cast my own bullets from straight wheelweight so the hollow base version is pretty much out of the question... haven't found the mold. The bevel base should be slightly easier to get started in the case but that's the...
