Re: Help choosing a bullseye 45

I was shocked to find that the wait time for guns from good bullseye gunsmiths is measured in years. ? The wait time is a year or better for big name gunsmiths, but there are plenty of lesser-known smiths who do good work and can turn around a gun in a couple of months. If you look for one you can ...

I can't help you on the Pardini or the new High Standard. The old High Standards are great. I have one of each of the other three. I think you mean the FWB AW-93. I have one and love it. There aren't a lot of used ones for sale. Reasonably priced they go quickly. I have a new Smith 41 as well. The n...

slide or frame??

One gunsmith told me that he could get better accuracy with a slide-mounted dot because the barrel locks to the slide and not to the frame. Looking around at Bullseye matches I see more slide-mounted dots than frame-mounted dots. Despite all that, I think I can call my shot better with a frame mount...

Hi Finprof, Is this true even for airguns? If so, I am aghast. I used to live in Canada and it wasn't that bad (but bad enough, that's one of the reasons I left). Jim It is true for airguns. In New York City airguns (rifles or pistols) are prohibited unless you have a permit from the Comissioner. M...

NYC

I shoot regularly at Colonial Rifle and Pistol Club, which is in Staten Island, which is part of New York City. I go directly to the match and leave for home directly from the match. I don't even stop for gasoline or coffee on the way there or back. There is no way I would go into Manhattan after a ...

If you are just looking for a timer, any MP3 player will work. You can record the range commands yourself to the MP3 player or download them. I don't know where the ISSF commnads are but you can download the range commands for NRA conventional pistol at the Encyclopedia of Bullseye Pistol website. Y...

trap

If you want a ready-made trap using ductseal, you can buy one from archerairguns.com. They will probably ship to Austalia. Stephen is an Englishman. Alternatively, you can buy an electrician's metal circuit breaker box at any home store, fill it will duct seal and attach a target. They have duct sea...

Bullseye gun

I just had a Bullseye gun made up by George Carell in Pennsylvania from a Caspian frame and slide. I waited a month.

There are lots of good Bullseye smiths who will build you a custom gun for about the price of a Les Baer.

scope changes

I shoot air rifle silhouette and need to change scope settings between matches the same day. We shoot two matches. One starts about 9:30 and the other about 12:30, after lunch. I think that the change is sunlight makes you see the targets differently. The afternoon settings are pretty consistent fro...

air pistol scores

Here is a link to the NRA national indoor air pistol championship and the scores there. http://www.nrahq.org/compete/secpdf/open-ap-11.pdf I didn't figure out the average or median score, but it is telling that the three top shooters in the country got 574-581 and the junior woman champion got 534. ...

CCI Misfires

I just purchased and received a brand new FWB AW-93. It misfires about once every 25-30 shots with CCI SV. I am convinced that it is the gun and not the ammo because the ammo is from a case that is about 1/2 used up with no previous misfires from any of the previous 2000-2500 rounds. I think that th...

DJ Precision

I sent in a check for an IZH-35M trigger shoe and the hex head screws for the scope mount in late February or March. Nothing for about a month and then suddenly the package appeared.

My guess is that the owner doesn't keep an inventory and makes up batches of product when orders pile up.

Box and scope

On the Burris 20x50: I got one three years ago with a Vanguard tripod for $69.00 from Natchez. It is good, but has limited eye releif. The NG is better. I just got an NG, but they are $250. The Burris is a better deal. The Gun-Ho boxes are apparently, out of business. Shooters Box has been advertisi...

Ultradot L/T

I noticed in your header that you have an Ultradot L/T. This is the small reflex lightweight sight. Most of the bullseye shooters have the tube-type sight in either 1 inch or 30mm size. I have three of the regular Ultradots in 30MM size. The dot size in the tube-type ultradot is 4 MOA, so it should ...

Bullseye postal matches

The United States Revolver Association runs postal matches. There are team matches, where the teams are from the same club , or individual matches. The National Match course for .22 mimics NRA Conventional (Bullseye) pistol,-- it is a 30 shot match - 10 shots slow, 10 timed and 10 rapid. The USRA ta...

Crosman

One of my gun club members who is rather handy with tools silver-soldered the sear to build it up, then gradually re-shaped the sear for minimal creep and a crisp letoff and installed a light trigger spring. The result is a trigger like my Izzy. It probably took him a day of work for him to accompli...

spotting scope 50 foot

I shoot NRA Light Rifle at 50 feet and don't need a spotting scope. The rifle scope at 12x works fine. If I follow through properly I will watch the hole open up in the target. For pistol at 50 feet I use a cheap Burris 20x50 fixed power even though I have a big KOWA TSN-1. The little Burris is just...

targets

I buy 110 pound card stock from an office supply store. It is about 12.00 for 250 sheets and then run them through a copier. You can download almost any target that is available. The 10m pistol target works very well on 8 1/2 x 11. The rifle target loses the sighters, but you are practicing anyway. .

one shooter

As luck would have it, today we had an air rifle, air pistol and free pistol match. At 10 AM we shot air pistol and air rifle. At 12:30 we shot free pistol and air pistol. Anyone who wanted could shoot rifle at 10 AM and pistol at 12:30.
