I got a tip to try Zero bullets over 4.2g N310. I had groups under 2 inches at 50 yards in a Ransom rest. It varies from the traditional wisdom that a hardball bullet velocity should be around 830 fps. It feels more like a wadcutter load. I haven't chronoed this load but it's much lighter than the t...

I bought a Ruger 22/45 with the replaceable grips as a back-up bullseye gun to my Marvel. I put in a Volquartsen hammer, sear and trigger and a Clark hammer bushing and mounted a 1 inch Ultradot. The grip angle is similar to the 1911 but grip replacement requires a bit of modification to the grips. ...

Adjusting the Lips of Colt Mags for the Marvel Unit 1
Here's a old site by Bob Marvel -"Functioning Factors" for the Marvel 1911 - .22 Conversion Units. http://marinedsa.com/Pistol%20Information/Marvel%20Functioning.pdf The way I adjusted my steel mags was to duplicate the one that worked the best but I remember the dimensions were in line wi...

A Ruger MK II drilled and tapped to mount a red dot sight and a Volquartsen trigger and sear installed would be a very good bullseye gun. Lot's of high scores have been shot with Rugers. It takes a lot of years for most shooters to be able to wring out the precision of the more exotic guns. The mone...

Earplug, I got a Marvel Precision Service story: I had a Unit 1 for almost 5 years - I shot it a lot -many thousands of rounds then shot it in weekly bullseye matches and mid week practice - many more thousands of rounds. I noticed the extractor broke through the cutout in the barrel. I called Marve...

I would test the Green Tag vs the CCI SV at 50 yards to see if there was an advantage in spending the extra $$. I've shot over 10,000 rounds of CCI SV in two Marvels and a 41 and have never had a failure. Some of the higher cost target brands from Eley, SK and Wolf shoot slightly tighter groups but ...

Steve Boelter wrote a book on rimfire guns and suggested that because a 22 rimfire priming material creates a glass like residue to use a loose fitting, wet patch first to push out the residue so it doesn't scratch the bore. I don't know how you can pull a bore snake or fishing line out of the muzzl...

I built up an Essex frame and slide using a Kart e-z fit barrel. With bullsye loads - 200g swc from a rest it puts all the shots in one hole at 50 feet. I believe Kart barrels are one of the most popular in bullseye competetion and I've read Kart makes the barrels for Baer. Kart created the E-Z fit ...
