Hi.
Would you mind posting some close up pictures of this new compensator? I would like to see and figure out how its different configuration can be more effective functionally.
regards,
Ron

training with .22 short
Based purely on my impression, I understand that one of the reasons for the inherent accuracy of free pistols is that when a .22 LR round is chambered, its head is seated snugly against the barrel rifling as the breach is closed&locked. Therefore, using a .22 short would not make it so, so that ...

Bad Pellets?
Just my thoughts. I don't believe that a pellet that has its skirt squished a bit will affect its POI significantly. I tried it on my vised Steyr (and many years ago with my FWB C20). It deviated less than half a pellet's diameter. That's it. I figure that the pressure of the propellant is so great ...

With regards to comparison of recoils, this might help:

I probably am not too keen an observer, but I hardly saw any difference. Your shared thought/inputs will be greatly appreciated.

Sir,
Thanks for your input on this. I would like to find out though, if there are other reviews of this gun, and if somebody else made some side-by-side comparison of all the 25 meter pistols. Please direct me to any link that you may know of.
Thanks
Ron

Hi, If there are white powder/crystalization around, then that's pretty much alright. Use them for some serious shooting if you want. Bench test them to assure your mind that they are ok. However, if otherwise, there's a thread here about removing the oxidation via soaking them in coca cola and rins...

compensator
In the early 1990's, I had a friend who had a Nygord Turbo Comp attached to his FWB C-10. I have tried it and my comment is that it is quite heavy (am guessing that it was at least 50 grams) and I really think it did not function as well. It made the gun nose heavy and was, in itself, the reason tha...

.22 ammo accuracy
Hi all, Many thanks for your opinions. And thanks for the link, Kent, the test groups showed so many things without a word spoken. Uhm, any more links? I grew up believing the Hammerlis to be (arguably) the best. I am aware that the equipments are constant and the human factor is the variable. This ...

.22 cal ammo accuracy
Hi. I understand that given a certain air pistol and a set of pellets, one would have to adjust its velocity to be able to attain the best groups. What about .22rimfire cartridges in free pistol and standard/rapid fire pistols? Would it be correct to assume that a top of the line Eley may shoot the ...

adjusting velocity screw
Bottom line of all these activities is to adjust the velocity to produce the best /smallest group of shots given a single type of pellet that you prefer to use, and therefore would have ample stock of. So, as what Kent says and what I have done through the years is to clamp my gun in a vise and shoo...

Just my two cents worth. One of the best things I like about the Steyr is its light weight because, then, it gives you many more options to experiment with additional/optional weights and how they affect the gun's balance vis-a-vis your preferences without making it very heavy. It's a fairly long pr...

Hi Ken,
I had to bring a caliper with me to the range to measure the diameter. It's 6.14mm and the length of the hole (thickness of the wall) is about 3.7mm. I couldn't measure accurately because of some lead building up inside.
regards,
Ron

Hi Muffo,
You probably have seen this when I posted it sometime Nov '08; I'm just refreshing your thoughts as it would be a lot easier to do than to have to remove the sight altogether. just a suggestion :-)

When is recoil felt?
In 1991, I had a couple of comps machined for my FWB C20. The reason being I liked the way another FWB felt with its original muzzle break. I tried that of Nygord's but the weight probably (and its power adjustment) was really pushing the nose of the gun down below the orig aiming area. I figured I ...

Hi, This is getting very interesting. Free Pistol, would you mind posting a pic of your comp up close? I do believe that comps may help increase accuracy because the gases, I understand, travel faster than the bullet and therefore may cause some deflection on the rear of the bullet that causes inacc...

Does this mean that if there was a blow back design for free pistol shooting, it would be more "forgiving", score-wise for the average shooter?

indoor backstop
Just my two cents worth. Many years ago, I used an old tire and hung a plate (6mm thick x 14" x 14") via a couple of hooks on its upper part within the inside of the tire so that it was free to swing and absorb the energy when hit by the .22 cal of my free pistol. I must have fired over a ...

Hi, I have never seen one but I came across this thread that might help you decide: http://www.targettalk.org/viewtopic.php?p=60174.
