I break my cases of ammo up into groups that will fit into standard surplus ammo boxes. I seal them, label the locking flap with the contents, and never worry. As far as fire rating for ammo storage, check with your local retailer for advice. A few years back I saw a film, produced I believe, by the...

Dope books

I have had people ask me where they can store their shooting and sight information, and how it makes a difference to their shooting. I have a couple of dope books that I use for pistol shooting. I use one for .22 and one for .45/CF (the same gun for me). I have had little luck tracking them down on ...

air cylinder testing

Here's my take on the whole mess: I work with propane and refrigerant gasses. We have to hydrostatically test our cylinders every 5 years for propane for 100 psi cylinders and smaller IF they are emptied..... which means if they are exposed to cyclic stress. Refrigerant cylinders are hydro'd every 5...

non lead pellets

This whole idea of non lead pellets sounded intriguing - the only supplier of Prometheus pellets that offers a significant portion of their line that I could find is Uttings.com.

Maybe a call to them will yield a set of test samples to determine if any of them shoot as claimed.

I didn't realize I was not signed in. The above response about IZH-46M's was mine.

Bill McMillan on the four most important things

In "The Pistol Shooter's Treasury", Bill McMillan stated, "There are only four things needed to make a good pistol shot in my opinion. They are the desire to win, proper training, a little natural talent and a good target pistol." I have been shooting for many years and wondered ...

Another slant on this is to not count scores. Count group size. Nobody needs to adjust the sights, they just need to not be distracted by a hole that is not exactly where they expected it.

Shooting accomplshment

At my first bulls-eye match I shot the target straight ahead of me. It was not mine. It was a marine's. A Gunny Sergeant. Back in 1992. I was a sailor. He schooled me but left no permanent marks. Man, was he angry, but he had been there once and remembered himself. I learned the word "Cross-fir...
