Re: Crowd behaviour at ISSF Finals
I think it makes it good for viewing. If no body want to watch it then it will get dropped from the olympics and eventually the sport will die. It already has an aging base of competitors.just the other day i was showing non shooters how the finalls can be fun to watch and it was this final with all...

Re: Is grip fitting as simple as...
To be fair they stated While the above explanation is somewhat theoretical, the EFFECTS of stress are well known and obvious. . Indeed, I did not muster enough fortitude to read it that far, and rather unjustly. It would make for an even better laugh. Why waste the reader's attention developing a p...

Re: Why Shooting Jackets for Rifle but not Pistol?
A jacket isn't required to hold a sling, but it holds the sling better than your arm. What the jacket does in prone (beyond cushioning the elbows, which no one appears to disagree with), is support the sling, and transfer the weight across the shoulders, reducing fatigue. With a jacket and a correc...

Re: Why Shooting Jackets for Rifle but not Pistol?
I think it gives quiet a large amount of stability. I also shoot fullbore and service rifle. in service rifle any form of restrictive clothing is baned. I have a patch on my sleeve that the sling sits above so it locates in the same spot every time. a jacket isnt required to hold the sling. using my...

Re: Why Shooting Jackets for Rifle but not Pistol?
Muffo how far do you suggest going with banning coats, are you suggesting shooting with bare arms or some form of light coat, which would then start a race all over again to get the "best" Coat. i would suggest banning any form of supportive jacket in 50m prone. no race for anything when i...

Re: Why Shooting Jackets for Rifle but not Pistol?
they can't just say "right, this is what you're shooting with now, all your existing gear is banned and worthless". Well, that's exactly what they did with Rapid Fire pistols in 2005. They became expensive paperweights overnight. Everyone complained (me included) but looking back 10 years...

reloading technique?
in order to reload you have to break your position. I have only just started shooting small bore and my club only has low grade shooters. they say to reload by pivoting your left arm over and down enough to access the ejection port with your right hand. this leaves all of your points of contact with...

Re: Does anyone know of any barrel block prone stocks
I use an omark action. its an old australian made action. they arent in production anymore and struggle a little in 308 with really hot loads but im using 223 and its brilliantly accurate. anything i got would probably have to be modified to fit an omark. i only know of 1 aloy stock made for an omark

Re: Does anyone know of any barrel block prone stocks
yeah. i have without much success. most people in the 2 clubs im in either shoot 1 or the other. theres one guy who has that hps stock but using a different action. surprisingly it doesnt seem very common where i am for people to shoot both. in fact its not very common for people to shoot either. th...

Re: Does anyone know of any barrel block prone stocks
I've not handled the convertible stock, but I do have the Gemini stocks that it's derived from. Both balance well, and can be adjusted to fit a wide variety of body shapes. I wouldn't pick the thumb-over grip on the HPS stock, but fullbore shooters seem to prefer that (at least over here). If you a...

Re: Does anyone know of any barrel block prone stocks
There is a possible downside to barrel blocks, the difference in barrel contour. Your 1411 is likely to be a straight cylinder, but your fullbore rifle will be contoured. Would the same barrel blocks be capable of holding securely these two different contours? A better solution might be to use an a...

Does anyone know of any barrel block prone stocks
I would like to make both my small bore rifle and my fullbore (known to some of you as a palma rifle) adjustable. id like to get them as similar to shooting each other as possible. by the time i get 2 sets of everything and add my time in it would probably be cheaper to buy a new stock. but then i h...

Re: pistol ammo in a small bore rifle?
i havent got the rws yet but so far i have tried black match pistol that was horrible and sk pistol match which was very close to the best groups i have shot and it seems that the pistol ammo actually has less wind drift but then it also has a loger lock time due to lower velocity
