If you're using those crap American targets you can try this: put another target behind the one you're shooting. You'll get a much cleaner hole without tearing. I think it stiffens the whole target so that even if the rear target is shot away in the center it will continue to work. You can also look...

Your question was: "How can one improve a free pistols grouping ability with a given ammo?" You can't. With the top ammo costing over $1000.00 a case, you probably would like something a little cheaper. Buy a bunch of the cheap stuff and shoot 25 shot groups out of a machine rest. If you c...

I took the grips off and clamped the grip near the front edge of whatever insert happened to be on the rest.

Awkward, not pretty, but it worked.

Back when Jacky built my gun, I had already installed a Bar-Sto in my Gold Cup. While discussing the job, he mentioned the quality of the Colt barrels and said he wasn't pushing aftermarket. You're right about the slop. The first thing he did was to toss the bushing and start pounding the slide. It ...

Back in the day, Jacky Best told me the stock Colt barrels were pretty damn good.

As one poster said, it's probably the last thing you need to look at.

Tenex, I go with you on this one. BTW, if you don't spend spending the money for those cleaning pellets, just snip the ends off a Q-tip and shoot them. Works better! Melchloboo, I can't imagine soft lead in any way harming a barrel. Also, I have been quite surprised at the accuracy of some of the ch...

IZH 46M grips

For those that can't live without such:

http://www.airgunsofarizona.com/ offers "full race" adjustable laminated grips for "only" $175. Look kinda spiffy.

OK, the brunch champagne hasn't kicked in yet, so I'll offer my ornery opinion. 1. The accuracy requirements for air pistol are really not that stringent. 2. The testing set-up must be very good (none of this sandbag crap). 3. Other than the really garbage pellets you won't find a big (read useful) ...

I go with GaryN's opinion, but this is not crude.... For really quick and easy, buy a 3/16" file for sharpening chain saws. They are only a couple of dollars at a hardware store and have no taper. They come in other sizes, but I like 3/16" best. They will give a perfect "U" notch...

If you're looking for cheap, yet decent, pellets try ordering RWS Basic from Champion Shooters Supply (about $35.00 for 5,000). They shoot nearly as well as anything out there and more than good enough for your crowd.

They may be able to help you with used equipment as well.

Contacted Pilk and Carter.

Neither had the part I needed, but Carter said he was receiving more parts next month.

I think I'll go with "Guest 20" and see if I can make it. Thank Bacchus for Dremel tools!

Hey Jay! Whaddaya say!

In case you don't know it, La Quinta offers a 25% discount to USA Shooting members. I don't know if this is all the time or just at the big matches.

You don't want the barrel aligned "perfectly straight" with your arm.

You want the barrel to point slightly to the right (if you're a righty) so that when you align the sights on target you are not straining your neck or bending your wrist.

Everything should be relaxed and natural.

I don't see any "Date of Manufacture" stamped on my CO2 cylinders. I guess you compressed air guys are SOL with the 10 year thing. Actually, I would be very surprised to see any Match Director in the U.S. care about this, although something might be said at a couple of the biggest matches....

Either one is a PIA. Pick yourself up a FWB 65 or a good single stroke pneumatic such as one of the FWB 100 series or a Pardini K58 (still made). Some say they are too feeble to cock them, but a bit of exercise is good for you. They really are not difficult if you develop an ergonomic technique. I'm...
