Arm strength and conditioning

I've been shooting AP and FP for about 8 years now. I've noticed over the past few years that my arm strength (and ability to hold steady) deteriorates as a match progresses. I still dry fire like I used to, but I feel that my older age may be a factor with this issue. Aside from more dry firing, I ...

Re: Pet load data for the Sig P210 Legend

I don't have a Sig P210, but I shoot an accurized Beretta for service pistol competitions. I really like the Sierra or Hornady 115 FMJ + 5.1 gr. N-340 for the long line. I have heard good things about Power Pistol at 6.0 to 6.1 grains with this same bullet for the long line, but I have yet to try it...

Re: Weight balance for the FWB AW93

I've used these rare earth magnets before. Quick and easy to use and require no modification. The recoil from a .22 is no problem for them to stay on. I see that they have plastic-coated ones now, which I would recommend. Warning: be careful not to get pinched by getting your finger between the magn...

Re: Factory 9x19mm for CMP Hardball

For factory ammo, I have had the best luck (accuracy at 50 yards) with the Atlanta Arms match loads:

I have just started to experiment with 147 grain loads at 25 yards, but don't have anything to share on that, yet.

Re: GSP vs GSP Expert

I have them both in .32 S&W L. The only real difference I could tell between the two was the recoil-reducing device at the muzzle consisting of the reciprocating weight/spring mechanism. That device never did that much for me and I ended up taking that barrel off and replacing it with a fast-twi...

Re: What is Bullseye pistol shooting

The course of fire is similar to standard pistol, but shot with three calibers (.22, centerfire (.32 or larger), and .45) and the slow fire portion is shot at 50 yards vs. the 25 yards for timed and rapid fire. Equipment is similar to standard pistol except that electronic (red dot) sights may be us...

I used an Ultradot "Matchdot" when I was shooting the Benelli MP95E. I used two 30mm Millett rings on either side of the ejection port. You need to attach them tightly (preferably with blue Loctite) to prevent them from moving. However, be careful not to overtighten because I broke one doi...

It looks like you need part # 25 from the diagram below:

I would give Earl a call at (978) 851-2656 to see if he can help you. That would be my best suggestion.

Good luck and I hope you get back to shooting ASAP :-)

Personally, I wouldn't worry about dry firing a center fire gun, especially a Rock River 1911. I have done it for years on a variety of centerfire firearms without any problems or damage.

My guess is that this disparity in muzzle velocities has to do with the fact that the Europeans typically shoot at 25 meters (where a lower velocity would probably be O.K.), whereas the US ammo has to shoot well at 50 yards.

If they didn't fire in the revolver, either, I would guess it was a problem with those particular primers.

You might want to consider some of the 83 gr. Lapua HBWC bullets. I had the best luck with them in my factory-barreled .32's.

I think the easiest solution would be to make your own shim for the front sight. All you need to do is to trace the outline of the front sight on a piece of aluminum can, cut it slightly smaller than the outline (so it won't stick out), and then drill a small hole for the screw. You could make sever...

Free pistol grip angle

Hi fellow shooters, I have been shooting a Morini CM84E and generally like it except for the grip angle. I would like a more vertical grip (less rake). If anyone has a suggestion about reducing the rake with a different grip (if possible) or another pistol to try I would surely appreciate it. Thanks...
