prone mat

If you know anyone with sewing skills. Get some carpet padding. Can be had for free if you talk to a carpet place and tell them you only need 3 ft width and pieces are ok. A little begging helps. For old timers you can build these up in layers and still be regulation legal. Then find a boat canvas s...

Other coaches

One thing that has always been helpful is to solicit the help from other coaches. Seeing the same children all the time and the same positions you tend to overlook many obvious things. Have some practice sessions at other clubs with good shooters and little things that make a big difference are inva...

carpet mats

We've used carpet mats. The cheap ones doubled up. Covered by material. Canvas or something similiar. Then just sew the edges shut. Carpet shops usually have the mats left over from jobs.

canvas

I know someone that sews boat canvas and he helps us out with our jr team. They have some material that is reinforced nylon that is extremely durable. I'd imagine it can take air rifle shots. The trade names are tuff stuff, weblon, herculite. it is a real thick and has threads running through it. if...

training classes

Where in New England are you located? I'm in NJ and hear from time to time about classes in the general area.

I haven't looked at a schedule lately but if it's in driving range I'd say it would be worth it to do a little travel for a class. There is a lot of material covered.

camp perry conditions

For everyone who has heard of the difficult conditions at Camp Perry. Here is some proof. 107 degrees and take a look at the large wind flag in the background. This was during the 3P matches.

Mats

We measured them and will be making our own. according to reg they can be as thick as 1.9inches , that sounds pretty comfy for me. And in any colors we want because we have a great canvas guy. Archies boat tops in south amboy,nj. He makes kneeling rolls also, and alters any shooting jackets. Maybe o...

NRA training

How about taking an NRA Rifle coaches class? While it does not make up for years of experience it does give you a lot of information and gives you the information on proper positions. It would be a jumpstart on your knowledge of the sport and also what a proper postion looks like. That way if you on...

Altering stock

Hmmm.. I guess that leaves the question, If I cut off the extra inch or alter the stock in other ways to fit properly, does this invalidate the rifle for competitions?

t200 sporter

I did look at that T200 sporter and it's my number one pick right now. The bolt can be changed to either side which is great. But to change you have to unscrew it. I might try to come up with a quick release system to make it easier to change. I like that it is pretty small in size. My daughter coul...

1 rifle for 2 shooters lefty/righty

Here's a question. I have 2 youth shooters, 8yr old girl and 11yr old boy. the girl is a lefty and the boy is a righty. At the club we practice there are rifles for them to use. My girl is using a lefty precision anshutz which is too big for her though. She uses a rest. I'd like to purchase a sporte...
