Re: P240 Barrel Project - With A Little Help From My Friends

I'd LOVE to help Dave, but you know the hassles of getting barrels back and forth across the 49th! Like governments are going to agree! I do hope you get enough material to work from. As I understand the system lockup, it would need some degree of fitting but no where near the amount involved for a ...

Re: Rapid Fire exposure time

As I recall it from a long time back the UIT timings allowed -0 +.02 as the range of variance. Manually timing the system with a mechanical stopwatch against the target edge. Certainly nothing as slow as a quarter second variance would have been accepted. Timing was from starting to face to starting...

Re: steyr LP5, space between barrelshroud and housing

Vibrational issues as I understood it. Mine shot well with the gap, but if the gap was closed to contact, there suddenly appeared outrageous flyers. Same thing happens with Unique 69 pistols if the barrel weight slips back to contact the recoil guide rod. At least that was my experience.

Re: WAP Travesty

The previous final process - qualifier plus final score for all finalists- also had a large number of complaints. The difference of final performance would often change the overall placement just as much as this newer final scheme does. But as David points out TV and publicity rules today, so you ha...

Re: WAP Travesty

As a Canuck, I have to say congratulations to Lynda (Keiko) a second generation world class competitor. Lynda really,REALLY, gets up for finals. I've seen her beat the national champions (male) in open finals here in Alberta on more than one occasion. She always does well on the final stress test! C...

Re: Ultradot Matchdot in the UK

Not likely that Ultradot exports to UK, they don't even ship to their next door neighbour and "most favoured trading partner" - Canada! Last time I tried a direct contact with them they replied that they were in the process of arranging a Canadian distributor, that was 3 years ago. Really ...

Got to keep the sight radius within the allowed limit for ISSF, but maybe changeable to maximize for NRA?

Re: Smith&Wesson 52 unforgiving...

I'm on my third cycle through the love-hate relationship. Bought and sold. Third one came along as a not to be missed deal. It is staying on to eventually teach grandchildren the ferocious focus necessary to be successful. At least that's what I'm telling myself! Course I just acquired a P240 so wha...

Yes, the addition of a forward weight does tame the unforgivingness substantially, but does not eliminate it. At least that has been my experience.

Re: GSP Frame, legal question-Canada

GSPs have always been a problem for the gov't! At one point they or at least their archives officer insisted on applying a sticker to my triggers. For a while the trigger on my 32 was the only registered part of it. The current situation is that the "receiver" top component with the serial...

Re: !911 .45 Bullsey Wancutter

Sig-Hammerli P240 frame is definitely steel. Thanks for the URL but I have the horrid feeling that the U.S. State Department will prevent any access to his products, but maybe a working diagram can make it over the border!

Re: !911 .45 Bullsey Wancutter

Jerry, I am completely in sympathy with the frame mount system. My NRA guns have had the original Weigand mounts on them for twenty years or so. I find your single sided mount intriguing and would like to know if you have one that can be fitted to a Hammerli P240 .38special? I see the spacer mounted...

Re: UNinstall Bo-Mar Rib

OK could not see the stampings clearly. All my Bowmar ribs were from the mid 70s, so not two pieces. I did have a very early sight that had a S&W style blade on a base that was like a BMCS.
Once the three visible screws are out, is the rib loose enough to see where a fourth screw might be?

Re: UNinstall Bo-Mar Rib

Definitely not a Bowmar rib. Now that we know the gun was built up by Bob Chow, it becomes evident that it was a rib built by Bob as well. The sight is exactly the same as on my Chow match gun, and while it looks like a Bowmar it is stamped as "Chow". The rib also seems to have different g...

Re: UNIQUE DES 69

I'd been using the 69for twenty years before I put a scope on it, so I was very familiar with the ejection pattern. I built several mounts over the years since but always kept the dot over the barrel with the rear even with the breech, and never had any problems. The scope and mount are a bit heavie...

Re: UNIQUE DES 69

Yes they are. My 69 has been my main gun since 1976. It has been joined by a 69U and a 32U which are my 2700 base pair, while the old 69 is my ISSF pistol. I notice you have the red-dot set way back, mine are forward. Since the 69 ejects straight upward, do you have any problem with cases bouncing b...

Re: GSP 2 Stage trigger weight set up

First thing lad, the rule changed about four years ago and the trigger weight is now one kilo - same as for 22 events. Walther has details about setting the trigger on their website. I liked to have about 500 grams for each stage, set rather crudely with a spring gauge and finalized with weights. Bu...

Intriguing and very neat job. Congratulations it is much neater than the one I saw pictures of that was done in Oz. It had a spring tube run through the frame and a similar swinging trigger. We'll be interested in how it works out.

You are unusual! The common situation is cutting them because they are too long. In any case the palm shelf must NOT touch the ulna, generally that commonly means the flexion crease on the wrist.

Re: High Standard 106 citation trigger

Wes is right about the transfer bar. I had a 1974ish Victor as my first pistol and wore out three transfer bars in the two years that I had it, finally got fed up , sold it and have had a Unique DES69 ever since, and it has never broken or worn down any component. Also check that the tiny U spring t...
