Re: Looking for SIG hammerli P240 magazines

Check with Sportec in Malmö Sweden, they often listed P240 parts in the past. Worth a check anyway.

Re: Unique DES 32-U

Hi Dave, I own one. Traded a Steyr five shot airgun for it, came with a variety of spares, and like both my other Uniques has not had anything fail. AFAIK, parts are not easy to find, last ones I saw were at Sportec in Malmö. I have only used my standard load H&N .314 HB over 1.6 grains of bulls...

Re: Where Do You Buy Your Tools?

Dave have you tried Sportec.se? The Swedish shop used to be a central source for all things Unique - apparently well over half of the Unique factory output went to Sweden. I bought a bunch of spares from them six or seven years ago.

Re: Where Do You Buy Your Tools?

Model or 'hobby' shops usually have three foot lengths of several kinds of wire - CM, stainless, etc. In various diameters. I bought a bunch of .053" wire that I use for brass catcher loops as they slide easily into 1/64 " holes. RC modellers use lots of different sizes.

Right you are David! Enjoy it. While I have half a dozen other 22s available it remains one of my favourites.

Re: Unique DES/69 Variations???

Hi David, the earliest version of the des69 had a fixed trigger mounted in the frame. The second version has the trigger blade mounted on a slotted round bar and thus adjustable for length of pull. Mine is this form and I purchased it new in 1976 -the serial number is in the 731000 range. As I recal...

Re: Drulov-75

Yes, Drulovs of at least two different versions were exported from the Czech Republic, but way back! They were moderately common in Canada as a first or 'training' free pistol in the 1980s. Yes very simple and rugged design, the barrel was quite accurate, but the trigger is a bit of a hassle to tune ...

Re: wood sculptures (grips)

What about cantable rear sights? Right. There are cantable sights, and cantable grips too. Maybe there are, but in the backwater that is Canada, I never saw any during my dozen years checking pistols at the National Matches. I assumed a vertical one down from the rear sight then checked the angle w...

Re: wood sculptures (grips)

Sorry, I got carried away. The answer you want is that if it goes into box and the angles of palm and thumb rest are ok, the pistol is legal.

Re: wood sculptures (grips)

Using pictures, drawings, projections is essentially wasted effort, my friend. The measurements are set for THE BOX that the pistol has to fit into so the utilization of orthogonal projections is not useful. The shape of the grip can the severely slanted to one side such that you might get a 35 mm p...

Re: FAS SP602

Hammerli excuse is just a slightly better grade of plinkers. Just buy the bloody FAS/ domino. The only bits you need worry about are the buffers which you can cut from any reasonable pvc sheet and the firing pin - one of our club members turned one in a drill press from a concrete nail with a file. ...

I do notice that they cut it as a straight tube, no skinny section. Congratulations ! Let us know how it functions.

Re: Bulged barrel of my SIG Hämmerli P 240

Actually I put about fifty rounds through it. Functioned fine, gave about two inch group at 25 metres and didn't even lead up. Hardly recommended, I don't have any idea of how much it was shot this way, but the repair was not fresh, and the serial number makes the gun very early manufacture.

Re: Bulged barrel of my SIG Hämmerli P 240

OK just to show off David's work. My old P240 barrel can to me as part of a salvaged gun, I knew the barrel had been damaged, and I was set to core out the breech and install a new chunk of tube. Hesitation kept me from doing it. The barrel had been bulged, the cracks are visible but someone unknown...

Re: Bulged barrel of my SIG Hämmerli P 240

Update time! David found a broker who would get a barrel across the 49 th parallel! So we agreed to do it and after efforts by David and BorderView the P240 barrel landed here this week. I have to say that David is one ABSOLUTELY phenomenal machinist. The quality of his work makes the old Hammerli p...

Re: Bulged barrel of my SIG Hämmerli P 240

Just had a reply from IGB, they said that P240 barrels are not a regular item, but would be made on special order and require a lot of handwork to complete. The lady who responded quoted a price of near 500 euros, and won't ship except via DHL at a cost of another 160 euros (a lot for a 300 gram pac...

Re: Bulged barrel of my SIG Hämmerli P 240

No problems getting a barrel INTO Canada, I expect there is the usual pile of German/Austrian paperwork to deal with, but far less than what has to go on to get one out of the USA!

Cheers, ADD me to their list!

Re: Bulged barrel of my SIG Hämmerli P 240

Jacques, if Lothar Walther is to produce a batch of P240 barrels please encourage them to minimize the main length reduction. I would suggest that a ten thousandths of an inch reduction from the bushing area is sufficient to allow the pistol to operate normally and to strengthen the barrel. The fact...

Re: Bulged barrel of my SIG Hämmerli P 240

That plan, machinist mike has always been my fall back. If Dave would make me a stub breach (hint, hint!) there is a respectable chunk of barrel to fit in. I've done similar jobs in the past and they've worked out well. But of course it would be best to do it in one piece since the breach wall on th...
