Good information, Pete. The USAS rule book can be found here. The shooter classification rules for different disciplines are in the General Regulations Rules.

Is it against the rules to plink at another shooter's quarter during the sighter shots?

I dryfire with an old pellet gun. It's a pretty ideal setup. The rear sight is more a "V" shape and the front sight is pointed, or maybe an upsidedown "V" ^ The combination results in a W sight picture. The side patches of light have a width AND a depth to guide the alignment. I...

I'm afraid you have discovered the over-simplicity of telling people to focus on the front sight. You actually need to be focussing on the sight alignment i.e. both sights. For many people the rear sight will be sharp when they have focussed on the front sight, but this is not always the case. In r...

Some shots, I don't even remember "seeing" the target, because I am "in" the front sight. I also like the word "allow" the trigger to break, as if the gun goes off by itself. Brooks, thank you for your advice. I think I understand what you are talking about on those sh...

Re: Need some Advice (new to AP)

Welcom to TargetTalk, vjay. I have been shooting air pistol for about as long as you, and am shooting around 80% in postal matches, as well. Shooters with much more experience have provided excellent advice. At maybe a similar situation as you are, I'm listing some of the things that I plan to work ...

K38, congratulations on your new pistol!! About pellet testing, here is an article by Vogel USA you may find worth reading. It is also posted on their website. Here is another interesting article about pellet testing. And on the bottom of this page is what our host has to say about pellets.

If you are in the US, I would contact our host, pilkguns. They should have or be able to get the seals. Other than that, PyramydAir also have the seals for sale.

They probably weigh different. R-10 and Hobby are nominally the same weight - 7.0 grain - but appear to be made on different equipment. Have you tried the Club pellets? They are supposed to have smooth skirts. I have never used them. But they could be a better alternative to your Hobby pellets, bec...

Re: I bought the Plano case

Thanks for the input Eurastus. Now I am glad that I didn't order the Plano case. I'll probably order a Kalispel case that kbc recommended.

Only a few days left for the August match. Doesn't an August match has to be shot in the month of August (although you have till September 5th to report the score)? To Bill, Thank you for hosting the postal matches. They have been beneficial to me. If you don't mind me asking, what is the relations...

Thank you for the responses, guys. I think I'll go with the foam + camphor route.

Beside camphor, do you guys use other desiccant or rust inhibitor in your gun cases?

kbc, the Kalispel cases look nice and sturdy. I'll probably order their 2-pistol case after I measure my gun to make sure it'll fit.

Re: How many U.S. athletes won Olympic medals

I just checked the NBC site - they have a list of all the medal winners. I just cut/pasted this into a spreadsheet and got 262 medalists for the U.S., or 44%. Of these, 111 won at least one gold medal and 29 athletes won 2 or more medals. Contrast this with China; about 700 athletes, 100 "meda...

Pistol case recommendations.

I have had my IZH-46M for about 2 months and I would like to get a pistol case for storage after use. The following case from Pyramyd Air looks nice and is not expensive. However I remember reading on the internet that some of the foam that is used in the cases traps moisture and will make it rust. ...

Just a heads up

I haven't seen this mentioned on the forum. Maybe more experienced shooters are quicker to find that out, but it took me a while to notice. So hopefully it will be of help for some new shooters using IZH46: the screw that secures the rear sight assembly could be loose (part 36 in this exploded view ...

There is a chance that some Chinese TV stations, which I use PPLive to watch on the internet, will show the matches, especially because China have many world-class shooters. Thank you for the information, Misny. I was aware that there are clubs in Southern Indiana that shoot air guns, but it is not practical for me to drive there regularly. I think my best alternative for now is probably to participate in some postal matches. When school starts, I'll check out Purdue's ...
