Re: USA Shooting Statement / USOC Resource Allocation for Pi

Hey Joe58. Nebraska has experienced an exploding number of high school and junior high kids in the shotgun sports. The Eastern Cornhusker Trapshooting Conference (http://www.shootectc.org) has more than 50 schools and 1,000 kids shooting a six week league in the spring and the state shoot in Doniph...

Re: USA Shooting Statement / USOC Resource Allocation for Pi

I do hope they can find a way to keep things going. It saddens me the levels of junior participation i see in all shooting sports across the boards. Today’s youngsters just do not seem to be as interested in the shooting sports in general as they used to. There is so much competition for their time ...

Re: RWS Club pellets

I’ve been curious about why there isn’t too many mentions made about the RWS Meisterkugeln yellow tin pellets. Cause they’re priced right around the same as R10’s so may as well buy them instead if cost is the factor?

I’ve been wanting to try these after reading your posts, so I’m gathering then that this is a good buy for 3000?

Look for user name Jim E. He deals a lot of really nice older airguns. I think he’s out of the country on a buying trip currently.

Re: best all round pistol for olypmic style shooting?

I used to have too many guns, but then I bought a second safe... Not to make light of a truly horrible situation and sick, demented person, but I did have a small lift of the eyebrows when the media seemed aghast at the fact this person had that many firearms and over 1000 rounds of ammunition. The...

Re: best all round pistol for olypmic style shooting?

Very good advice David. I enjoyed reading your post. I do find it a little frustrating watching the other guys shooting the real cool toys and I’m muddling along with my Ruger. :) But at least I wasn’t ever last. Lol. But it has given me the opportunity to talk to the guys about their gear and gathe...

Any clue for the flyer in the Basics?

So which one are you going to go with then as the winner?

Now, if you guys REALLY want cheap and good, I'm gonna make you work for it! Scroll down through this post, opening every little hint from each poster and you will find unbelievably low pellet prices. If you're too lazy to pursue it, that's OK with me. http://targettalk.org/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=...

Re: Quote from the Pellet Master

I would agree with that to a degree as I feel there is a difference in pellet quality from the “big name” brands than say, Crosman’s from Walmart. Not to put a knock on Crosman, as they’re decent plinking pellets, but out of a match quality gun, I would believe that a match pellet will produce tight...

Lost me a tad (easy to do) on this one Rover.

So is he saying that about any old pellet will do, as most of pellet accuracy is just between your ears?

Would you have a link for the Facebook postal league? I didn’t see one that looks current.

Thanks!

Re: How do makers determine pellet weights?

Re Ely pellets - Marketing BS. There cannot be an optimum weight for all pistols- let alone pistols and rifles. Having a range of shapes and weights lets you select the most stable for your weapon. Half a grain is maybe too wide a step if they all adhered to such a standard I agree. Dunno how the c...

How do makers determine pellet weights?

Perhaps a bit of a dumb question, many of mine turn out that way it seems.....but, I’ve been browsing around the various pellet makers web sites and can’t seem to find out how the different makers arrive at the weights of pellets they make. The weights just seem so arbitrary. 7.02, 7.33, 7.87, 8.02,...

Re: 5 shot air pistol

Seems it'd be a pretty limited field of competitors given that multi-shot world class air pistols aren't in great demand (just a guess) and the cost has to be pretty prohibitive. But I'm just speculating.

Are there match videos?

Snake oil,... The mechanics of each round are built into the round by choice of primer, propellant, and bullet. Deforming the bullet, or case, after the fact changes what the loader produced the round to do. There can be no quality control as the end user has no idea what the original loader had in...

Re: Grip fit

I like the shelf to be snug enough to where it keeps all my fingers aligned so the can't really move up and down on the grip. To me, this feels as though I'm gripping the pistol the same way each time. But not tight enough to be uncomfortable after awhile. I think if you have a chance to try other g...

And to add to GM's post you can ship your rifle to Texas and they will test it for you and ship it back. Also the Lapua test facility in AZ will do the same thing and will test to 100 yd. I've never really shot very much Lapua. I may have to try some just for fun. I enjoy experimenting with differe...
