Old Eley Tenex vs. new Eley Tenex

I've noticed that the new Tenex has the flat point on it. Waaaayyyy back when I could still see and was younger, we shot quite a bit of Tenex on our team and it really was good stuff. Spendy, but it was free for us. :) I've not shot any of the new Tenex since nowadays I think I could shoot CCI Sting...

Re: Supported Air Pistol

it's not an ISSF "game". just another one of those events made up by people who can't win the normal way! Seems kind of harsh. I guess then you're not for the Para-Olympics then either. I'm all for alternative solutions to allow people to keep shooting as they age, or smaller stature peop...

Re: New Air Pistol Question

Just wanted to pop in with a question on cleaning the barrel then. You're recommending not to mess with the barrel cleaning at all if it is fired regularly? Yes, that would do. However, I like to use a cotton patch instead of a cleaning pellet... *Apologies if I'm hijacking the thread. I just felt ...

If going to be stored for awhile, perhaps a cleaning pellet with a dab of oil, then several dry pellets before firing? That all sound ok? Thanks!

Re: The NRA Gallery Match

The Bullseye Range Commands app may help practicing, since you can start the app and it will give all the proper commands on time. It's free so worth a look perhaps if you've an iOS device. Not sure if there is an android equivalent.

There's an app for ISSF events as well that gives the commands.

Re: Using the hand pump on a PCP pistol?

Greetings- Our Hill pump requires roughly 60-90 strokes for a complete fill on a 200 BAR cylinder. Complete 20-30 strokes, and rest for several minutes so the pump does not heat up and cause condensation. The longer you rest the more the air will escape; based on the way you have the pump fittings ...

Using the hand pump on a PCP pistol?

Just a question out of curiosity, I've noticed here and there ads for hand pumps for PCP gear and was wondering how long it takes to pump up the cylinder to the necessary charge? Seems as though you may be at it for awhile.......dunno though.

Re: Pistol (ISSF rules) coaching from 3 time Olympian via Sk

I'm curious if you've ever considered making a few videos, that might feature the basics, that would apply to most everybody. At least in the beginning. Perhaps a general guide to common mistakes and their indicators they result in. I realize that these would be needed to be kept quite vanilla, as e...

Other Similar Forum Sites?

I'm just curious if the members here also frequent other similar type sites about the type of shooting sports covered here.

If so, which ones? I'd like to check them out.

Thanks!

Re: New NRA Director of Competions Named

I really do hope that as mentioned, the NRA can have better relationships with other pro-gun groups, and devote more attention to the older, traditional, precision, type shooting sports. I see so few younger folks at matches I go to. Same with Silhouette matches. Mostly all older guys. All smaller c...

Re: Refills from a bulk CO2 tank question

Thanks so much for the great tips. All stuff I need to know. I haven't started to track down a tank yet but that's my next step. I did have a question about new cylinders. Will any FWB cylinder fit? And in the cylinder itself, is there a difference between a CO2 cylinder and a PCP one. Other than I ...

Re: USB telescope to assess accuracy shooting

Seen a promo video on this one that says it'll work out to 300 yards. System is contained in an ammo can and pairs with your iPad or smartphone. Pretty cool but kind of expensive though.

Re: USB telescope to assess accuracy shooting

Myself, I think I'd prefer to spend a bit more for a dedicated spotting scope. For 25m, you do not need to spend a lot of money for the real high priced optics and you won't need to mess with hooking it up to your phone and whatnot. And it'd be useful for other nature viewing too. And they have adap...

Re: Refills from a bulk CO2 tank question

Correct. The manual says the weight of the cylinder as far as what it should be. I've read use the freezer, or just in the fridge is good enough. But I'll need to weigh before and after fill. I can use a bleeder screw to let some co2 out of the cylinder should I overfill. I'm sure until I get the ha...

Re: Refills from a bulk CO2 tank question

Thanks Rover, good to hear. Storing it upside down shouldn't be too big a deal, I was just thinking of convenience is all. I can probably cobble together some sort of holder to keep it in place. And I'm sure I'll get the stink eye from the boss when she sees this tank stored in the utility room. I'm...

Refills from a bulk CO2 tank question

I'm wondering if I could get an estimate for the number of refills a guy can expect to get from a bulk CO2 tank to their air pistol cylinders. Say, a 10lb tank, and refilling an empty cylinder each time. I know there are a few factors that may effect the total number, but a rough guess would be good...

Seller Nikkonos on the big auction site has these. I've used them when space was shorter and they work well. I like that they're still on decent target paper and cut nice holes. Single bull. I've still have some so if you'd like to try a couple, pm me your address and I can send you a couple first t...
