bulged 52
Bummer, I did the same trick. There was one out there but it got sold. I fixed my problem by buying a new M-52 at the local sporting goods store! Now I have lots of spare parts.

Pardini SP22
Shooter's Box sells a compensator made from billet alumium for SP22. I get quite a jet of gasses straight up from the bore, resulting is a seemingly increased reduction in perceived recoil. I took off my Nygord grips and went with Rink upswepts. I have never shot HV ammo thru it, as I get lightening...

HS vs Victor
#1 don't go with a Texas frame, go back to Hamden mfg. for the HS. SH prefix S/Ns E. Hartfords have ratty blue job, that's what I have because they were financially dying in the late 70's. But it is a shooter. The SH guns have hex screw securing bbl. (bad idea), so I don't reccommend. The trigger on...

52-2 loads
2.7 gr Bullseye with the Bulk Remington 148 HBWC graphited bullets from Midway work very well. I am partial to Meister hard swaged bullets as they are a lot cleaner. However the more expensive Hornady HBWCs are nice, as the are dusted with boron nitride. There is a lightweight bullet option from Ger...

550
Dillon customer service sent me a complete primer tube assembly and slide as I was experiencing difficulties changing from large to small primers. Smart move. I do see on other forums that some 550 owners have both set-ups to skip the problems of alignment, depth setting and wear. It is a good press...

grips
Very impressive! Do you sense you have enough palm swell on the left sided panel to fill the hand so the grips don't torque to the left during firing? The Germans have a lot of wood on the left side, but bulks up the appearance a lot.

Trailside
I have found that the 180 gram counter weight, Rink grips and Ultra Dot Match Dot were pivotal additionas in building up my Trailsides. I sent both of them to Larry Carter and he upgraded them with his trigger. I could not be happier. I only wish there was a muzzle porting option or recoil abatement...

Choosing a starter 22.
Prefacing response: Buy too much pistol with too much money; in the long run, you'll have more time to enjoy it and less time apologizing for your poor purchase and lost trade value when you finally upgrade! 1. HS Victor or its sister, Trophy. But get Nill grips and NOT Herretts. -this is a Heavywei...

press selection
The 550 is slow compared to the 650. The 550 does allow for easy stripping if you goof up. My greased bullets gum up the Dillon seating die. But, a heat gun is the tool of choice for cleaning up. Dillon's priming system is a metal on metal arrangement. Oh what an improvement if there was a teflon im...

grip
Consistency. My method is firmness shy of shaking. "Locking" all muscle groups and intense focus on the trigger finger. I visualize the first stage and the necessary travel to the point of let-off. I can refresh my process by shooting someonelse's pistol which has a different pull. The abi...

Frame mount
Nothing I can add that has not been hashed out here. But on the Baer WC, I am totally happy with the frame mount. Feels solid. I personally have less confidence with the Docter and JP up on the slide. My M-52 Smith has the BME mount that goes in place of the counterweight and I perceive the same sec...

Old SP 22
Congrats on buying a new toy! I ordered the compensator sold by The Shooter's Box. I am proud to declare that the pistol is recoiless. I am suprised at how much "smoke" gasses blow out of the vertical vent. I switched to Federal Auto Match ammo. $14.47 a box at WallyWorld and for cheap ret...

M-17
Won a lot of trophies with the 8 3/8" M-17. Shot rapid DA, though. My gun has a distinct "click"..."click".....then hammer drop. I fine tuned the trigger stop for elimination of most of the overtravel. I did put it aside and went with the iron sighted HS Victor, but only pic...

rake angle Euro vs US
Euro rake angle = locked wrist. USA (ala 1911 angle) = unlocked wrist. Euro angle = recoil down bones in arm. USA angle = recoil makes gun pivot in hand meaning more recovery time.

SP22
I have no experience with SP New, sorry. However, aside from the fact that I overadjusted my trigger and it does not work now, the Old SP is a keeper. If the house were burning, I'd leave the Trophy, Trailsides, M-41s and M-17 wheelguns behind. Funny, the Euro grip angle is not popular in USA, too b...

SP22
I shoot Federal Auto Match in mine (the old 'Champion') and have little complaint. I might average a light load or a mis-fire in the ratio ot 1:1500. I have a mixed lot of purchased boxes, so I have no idea of how long it has been sitting. SP22 isfine, but I over tweaked the trigger and cannot get i...

Rink upswept grip
I have this option on my Trailside. The Trailside sits too low into the grip and I get cut by the slide. I have the same set up for the Pardini SP22 and anticipate I will nat have that problem. Furniture is finely made, grained wood attractice and looks like it will last for years. I have bought sev...

Your M-52 project
The previous comment about longer distances is good advice. The blunt nose possessed by the HBWC pushes a lot of air. I am not a ballistics expert, but Lamborghinis cut thru the air; semis, on the other hand, push. I recall the inherent accuracy of the M-52 barrel/bushing combo on this premier hand ...
