If the firing pin is not the problem and you took the trigger assembly off then you have a trigger timing problem. I have seen this exact problem happen to numerous people that took their triggers off and didn’t know the correct way to put them back on. What’s happening is the sear and the firing pi...

Back to your original question, the material that the barrel is made out of is not the major determining factor in whether it will shoot well or not. The barrel contour, length, chamber and bore diameter are the factors which make the big difference. From gauging and slugging many anschutz barrels I...

Save yourself some money and buy the cheaper of the two anschutz barrels. In my experience neither anschutz barrel will out shoot an American aftermarket barrel like Shilen, Benchmark or Lilja. I have had 2 anschutz 1907s both of which I have replaced the factory barrels due to poor performance. The...

Hey GaryD, I got locked out of that email address and haven't figured out my old password yet. You can reach me at goldmedalgear@gmail.com. As far as bloop tubes go we have been working out some issues with the design and took a break from manufacturing. Production should start up again within the n...

Personally, I dislike the Anschutz 7020 sights. They are big, bulky, and extend way too far in total length for my liking. From a mechanical standpoint, I think they are inferior to other sights. The few times I have set up my Anschutz 7020 sights in a mill vice with a dial indicator I have noticed ...

Brent, I also make custom bloop tubes, however, I use carbon fiber instead of aluminium. Carbon fiber has the advantage of making the tubes extremely light, so as to have minimal affect on the balance of your current setup. Send me an email at carbonfiberblooptube@gmail.com and I can send you some p...

Benchmark, makes excellent barrels! You could get a reverse taper to cut down on the weight of the barrel. The benchrest guys like to use the reverse taper on their sporter class rifles because tuners are illegal for sporter. If you slug a straight taper barrel vs. a reverse taper you will notice th...

Yeah, I lost to you by one point overall, big deal. That was the first time, I every shot a master score and the first match, I ever won. I agree with Soupy, the wind isn't that bad, you just have to keep up with it.

Albert B,

I have been doing a lot of research on the physical training needs/aspects of precision rifle shooting. If you are interested, I have written an in depth paper on the subject that I would be more than willing to share with you. Send me a PM and I can send you the paper to review.

Simply adding weight to the stock seems to me like the easiest way to move the center of gravity. I also shoot a 1907 and to get my center of gravity back more toward the trigger guard, I had a short barrel put on my gun when I reached the point when I needed a better barrel. Also if you remove the ...

Getting Rid of the Shine, Anschutz Precise Stock

I am looking at purchasing a new stock and the Anschutz Precise stock is one of the choices at the top of my list. Overall, I really like the stock from what I have seen. The area of concern for me is that the pistol grip supposedly doesn't move forwards and backwards. Besides that like most people ...

Stock Styles & Length of Pull

I would like to take a poll of the shortest possible length of pull set ups for all the different smallbore stock styles available. If you don't mind, please measure your stock from the front of the pistol grip to the rear of butt where the buttplate goes into the rifle. You can see the attached pic...

Curious, I simply googled carbon fiber rifle barrels and looks like this is not a new idea. There are manufactures out there already that wrap rifle barrels in carbon fiber, and from what I've read it has accuracy enhancing potential. Below is link to the leading manufacturer in carbon fiber wrapped...

I believe that wrapping the barrel of a rimfire rifle with carbon fiber tape to reduce vibrations could possibly have some potential. I wouldn't do this, however, on a rifle where I couldn't swap out the barrels easily, in the event that it made the rifle shoot worse. I don't see the need to run the...

I have always been told that storing ammo in the heat was bad for it and would cause the ammo to have fliers etc. I have never taken the time to actually think about why excessive heat would damage ammo or do any research before. Instead I figure better safe than sorry, and I keep my ammo out of the...

I cannot say definitively that the torque setting on your clamping system causes a variation in the harmonics but it makes logical sense. As far as I am concerned whether or not it actually does cause a discernable difference; this is a game all about consistency, so why not take the extra time to e...

I use to use a Harrel tuner on my smallbore position rifle. At first I was skeptical if it would really make my gun shoot better but after getting some help from some benchrest guys I definitely saw an increased accuracy with the tuner. The tuner was well worth it for increased accuracy but it is no...
