Don't rule out a used FWB SSP either. I bought a perfectly functioning FWB 601 from another member here for $650, and it was worth every penny. It is a bit more $$ than the other rifles, but you definitely get what you pay for, and the accuracy is second to none.

The mechanism on the 601 has a valve like a PCP would, so dry firing it isn't going to destroy the mechanism. It just has a striker that hits a poppet-type valve and empties the compression chamber.

3-4 days... Just the shipping time. It was apparently sent as soon as I placed the order.

Be advised though, the elevation and windage blocks don't have any bushings in them, so the stainless posts wear directly on the aluminum blocks. The posts need to be kept clean.

I have a FWB 601, and the only tools I need to adjust the trigger are a small flat-bladed screwdriver for length of first stage, sear engagement, shoe position, etc. Adjusting pull weight doesn't need any tools. I don't know anything about the 300, though.

I've got an IZH-46m. While it's very simple to use and I really like the single stroke pneumatic design, I've been shooting with it for a couple months and still catch the front sight sinking at the end of 60 shots. That said, it is inexpensive, and while the trigger's not perfect, it's still good.
