Re: Help My New Morini mc 162el has a problem.

Slight surprise here ... It seems they changed the design at some point. On my gun, the pin #162028 is rubbing against a small removable piece of metal. morini003.jpg My gun has a serial number ~15800, which might mean it was manufactured in approx. 1998-1999 (wild guess). Anyway, since the loading ...

Re: Help My New Morini mc 162el has a problem.

JulianL, many thanks for the fantastic pictures and information! It's been years since I even removed the grip of my CM162EA, but I will try to have a look ASAP. As far as removing the loading lever goes, an experienced gunsmith told me (about 11 years ago) to be extremely careful when removing the ...

Re: Help My New Morini mc 162el has a problem.

I started notice after the first 500 pellets it was harder to cock sometimes, the shot fired normal and many more shots cocked normal, Then it would happen again - hard to cock. I'm having this exact problem now, but with an older CM162EA. Really unpleasant. Feels like there is a considerable amoun...

Re: Steyr LP10 weak cylinders after 6 year break

Well, I'm not sure what to believe. After a dry firing session last Tuesday, I left the pistol alone for two days. On Thursday at the shooting range, I noticed the pistol had once again lost most of its power. I believe the first shot actually hit the wall instead of the target. I did not fire a liv...

Re: Steyr LP10 weak cylinders after 6 year break

Haha :D Yeah, hopeless case, I'm afraid. Well, it does seem the gun is suddenly working reasonably well indeed. Regarding shot placement, it's definitely giving me exactly what I order. For instance looking at the three worst shots above, they were very obvious triggering errors that I immediately c...

Re: Steyr LP10 weak cylinders after 6 year break

Maybe I should add that the LP10 has been stored indoors, untouched for 6.5 years, in temperatures varying between 23 and 32 Celsius (73 to 89 Fahrenheit).

Here's the quick MegaLink speed test I did (shooting free hand):

Re: Steyr LP10 weak cylinders after 6 year break

Today I started with one of the cylinders that seemingly made the pistol perform badly last week. I completely emptied the cylinder and then filled it to about 190 bar. My ~10 warmup shots felt ok and the scores seemed logical. Then I was allowed to try one of the new MegaLink 3D-Score electronic ta...

Re: Steyr LP10 weak cylinders after 6 year break

Thank you David, Spektr and Stephen, very interesting comments! There's not been much progress yet, but I did happen to notice something presumably abnormal: While unscrewing the cylinder, some air will leak, as usual. But about a second after I had completely removed the cylinder, there suddenly wa...

Steyr LP10 weak cylinders after 6 year break

Well, it's been a while, for sure ... :) Yesterday, I took my Steyr LP10 to the range, after a 6.5 year break. All this time, the LP10 has been hiding in its case, with a cylinder attached. First off, I filled 4 cylinders to slightly below 200 bar. Then I simply just started to shoot. However, I imm...

Ciro grips

Another guy makes grips for LP10 -Ciro see Maennel website in Austria you can buy 25+ different grip sizes. Any idea if these guys are still in business? I tried contacting Maennel by e-mail. It's now been 16 days and no reply. According to their method of measurement, it seems I have a wide but sh...

Simple solution, do the same as the rest of us, buy or borrow a cylinder that has a current test date appended and remove the unnecessary stress that could happen if your equipment fails at EC. Yes, that's what I'll do, if I ever decide to use the CM162EI in a competition again. Unfortunately, a cy...

So according to Tycho's comment, my Morini's cylinders are probably around 12-13 years old, but I don't really have any way of proving that. "These are from the late 90's and Morini says their service life is at least 20 years. Can I go shoot now?". By the way, what date do the manufacture...

No date on Morini cylinder, but required @ Finnish nationals

The registration form for the Finnish national championships now for the first time includes a box where you have to enter the expiry date of your AP's cylinder. This is no problem if I decide to shoot my LP10, but what if I'd like to shoot my CM162EI instead? The only text I can find on the cylinde...

Regarding the cocking lever, an experienced gunsmith told me, a few years ago: "Don't do it! The threads in the body of the gun are short and you never know what sort of glue they have used. If you use excessive force to unscrew that screw, the threads in the body might just follow along with i...

When I straighten my arm and wrist just before raising my AP, the front of the gun (well, the air cylinder actually) will still be resting on the bench, but the grip won't. At this stage, the pistol will most definitely be pointing into the bench or to the floor. I'd need a *very* tall bench for thi...
