Re: Problem with 208s

I know I'm showing up late to this thread, but if you haven't remedied it yet (perhaps via the magazine info), take a good look at the headspace area of the slide. After a lot of use, two things can happen that will cause this failure: 1: the top part around the firing pin hole closes in a bit causi...

This is for the Real "Upstate" NY BE shooters

Last year the Long Lake Fish & Game Club hosted one of the sections of the NYS Outdoor Championship in September. We plan on doing so again this year, unless it becomes a Regional instead of the State Match - decision to made soon. The complications: CMP has chosen our weekend to host one of the...

Since the previous post appears to be BS with a blatant piece of spam inserted into my quote, I shall provide no contact data. I would also appreciate it, if a mod could remove the link in the first line, and/or the entirety of these last two posts. Thanks!

If you can't find the necessary distance, try a mirror with the target beside you. I did this for a while with my Rika.

Tupper Lake Rod & Gun Club is holding its first Sectional

That's right! The TLRG will be holding an NRA Precision Pistol Sectional on 27-28 February. For more info, you can download the program from:

TLRGSectional.pdf

or, you can contact me.

We plan to make this an annual event, so even if you can't make it this year, please keep us in mind for next.

Re: Shooting score has plateaued – Help!

The shot process is unique to everyone, it is dynamic and its advantages are to give a consistent base of action so you can expect a consistent result, and it gives you a consistent focus point to keep you on track. A new shooter might have twenty steps initially and then combine portions down to a ...

Re: SCATT trainer - your opinion?

Thanks for the input. Will now learn a bit more about the system and see if its worth the money and time invested. Just dont want another useless toy :) Food for your thought along these lines: I bought a Rika many years ago and got very familiar with it. Two things of note occurred: 1 - Via my per...

Re: Shooting score has plateaued – Help!

Sometimes a plateau is an indication that you have reached the level your current shot process can reach. You may need to change something you hold dear in that process to move further. Right now, you probably need to work on the mental side. If 270 is your "expected" score, (because you p...

I own a cp2 and refurbished it last year for my son.The O rings for de cilinders I got from walther cost around 7€ each AND lasted around 4 Month ( rechrarching 4x a week) After trying several types of commercial O rings from a local shop I finally got the right compound; NBR 90 14x3mm This "h...

Re: 555

A plateau often means you've gotten the most from your current process, IF you are following your process. You may need to modify an element to move further. Always stay positive, look for what elements produce better results and, as others have said, let go of the score during shooting.

Re: Shooting glasses prescription

Although he's a pistol shooter, Dr. Norman Wong has written a document designed to help other eye professionals understand our needs as shooters, that would probably have value for rifle as well. You can find this info, including a .pdf version that can be taken to your eye care professional here: B...

Re: Hammerli 215 adjustment

It's been a while since I did anything with it so my memory is a bit weak, but it's either the sear tension screw or the lock screw for the sear tension screw. I'm not near my 208s to check it right now, but maybe someone else can chime in.

Re: 10 METER PISTOL TARGET SCORING

I agree that with the current rules anything outside the 1 ring is 0. I also believe there should be 0.x. As to the idea of not winning if you are shooting 0s, I will tell you that I won a Free Pistol Match with a 0 by deciding that nine 10s was equal to ten 9s after I fired a total miss. I did spen...

Perhaps a bit late now, but what do you want from scatt i.e. how do you think using it will improve your shooting ? Presumably you had a plan in mind when you bought it ? I don't actually remember my initial plan when I bought my Rika, but my results were a much deeper appreciation of dry fire, and...

Re: 2015 Long Lake Black Bear Annual Championship

We have a pretty good crowd so far for Friday, but Saturday is very weak, meaning the overall numbers look down for this year. If anyone is available, please come out and shoot our match on Saturday. The club members did a lot of work to double our range capacity. Where are those shooters we turned ...
