It's anticipation. Where is the twitch actually occurring?

I also find my 100 yard conventional scores to be higher than my 50 yard/meter scores. Conventional wisdom would suggest that wind issues would bother 100 yard shots more critically than 50 yard shots, and in some cases it does happen. Both the 50 and 100 targets are proportional in your sight, alth...

OK, here's yet another idea. One thing you mentioned is the circle she draws is "almost round". Where is it not round? 12:00, 3:00, 6:00, 9:00? If it is at 12:00, keep reading... Looking closely at her picture, her head does not appear to be perfectly vertical, and although we can't see wh...

John: Lots of things could be going on here, but it all breaks down to position. There's a number of variables we don't know - * Assuming you are using a shooting coat, what kind and how supportive it is. * What kind of sling you are using and how is it configured on your shooting coat. I've actuall...

For what it is worth... I have been a part of the local FNRA committee for the last several years. We hold a "high caliber" event every year. This year we actually had Wayne as our featured speaker. Last fall I went to my first statewide distribution meeting. We had $412,000 in grant reque...

Once you have found the proper front aperture, you may want to try a variable rear iris. This controls the size of the rear sight's hole. Two things are accomplished; it helps you line up the rear with the front sight better, and it also controls how much light is being seen through the sight due to...

Usually when there are young females at my matches, they are scoring better than I am! Congrats, Steve. Had a berm-hugging-wind-resistant-almost-17 young woman score -3 for a monthly metallic sight conventional prone 1600 the weekend before last. She's getting ready for her third or fourth trip to C...

I was waiting for Kiwi to chime in! We had some great chats on this subject a couple of years ago. Time flies. One of the related issues is something called "shot ping" where certain smalbore rifles will "ping" with every shot. It's more noticeable with all-metal stocks. I had ex...

I'm a rifle guy too. Why not use a boresighting tool for the laser, something like this: http://www.midwayusa.com/viewproduct/?productnumber=636671 It's a handy tool. I owned a Noptel and liked it, but the inconsistency of the setup of the laser killed it for me. If you boresighted the laser, it can...

Eley Tenex .22 (red) is a bit more expensive here in the US, a box of 50 is $18 or 36 cents a round. Quantity pricing is slightly lower.

This has been a fun thread. I remember being 13 and bringing my gun to McQuaid Jesuit High in Rochester because Mike Drexler and I were off to CT for the Northeastern Regionals. We had to put them in an unused classroom because the stuff was too big to put anywhere else. This was after the rifle tea...

This fall I had a nice NC State Trooper pull me over for good cause. As I was taught, I immediately said I was carrying. He was a little surprised - I had a Jeep full of college move-in stuff for my daughter. He asked for my pistol while he ran my license. I gingerly handed it to him the way he aske...

I use a pair of Jaggi frames from Champion Shooters. The lens is single vision (as you would hope) and I don't have astigmatism or anything else going on. I've had two lenses put in the monocle as my prescription changed this year. My only gripe is that occassionally light oil from my rifle bolt bol...

I did it with really hot tap water and visegrips (locking pliers) by hand only. The knob didn't survive, but the new one screwed right on. This method is a little safer since you're not going to accidentally get scalded with boiling water or damage the bolt in a vise. Safety first!

You might want to look at my short video regarding my 1913 bedding project about a year ago. It's pillar bedded, but there were three stock-related issues addressed - one was that the barrel was not actually free-floated from Anschutz; it rode wood halfway down the barrel so it had to be chiseled ou...

Don't feel bad about the case. My wife's 3-year old grand-niece was here at Thanksgiving. This child is a complete terror - she even challenged our 26 pound doxie that was ready to take her apart. No fear whatsoever. We heard a beep-beep-beep-beep as she pressed the buttons to my safe; no big deal, ...

One thing I do for visulaization exercises is take one of my better A-23 bulls (0-5X) and cut a square around it. I then taped it to a wall in my office about 10 feet away and across from my desk. While I'm on calls I can look and visualize the perfect circle with clean, crisp edges. My eye follows ...
