Since we can not travel by air in the US with air cylinders, can we ship them thru Scott for the Nationals? Would he be there in time for us to get them? ps TSA recently searched my luggage and confiscated my matches and lighter. Since when do we have a problem with people in the hold playing with m...

Standard Pistol and NRA type targets get re used for center fire. AP with 5 shots simply get a patch of masking tape on the back and are reused. Targets with all 10's or a couple 9's can be reused as is. Hey if the center is gone and you put more thru the 10, it is clearly still a 10. For training, ...

Somehow wasnt logged in above, any way, the cleaning pellets are worthless unless you have soft targets to play with :) The weedwacker line pull thru is the best way to go. There are also some fancy and expensive German kits but the name escapes me. Daryl S was playing with one with good results. Sc...

Thanks for the update, it confirms what I was afraid of. I CAN NOT depend on being "lucky" and I am not satisfied with a don't ask don't tell" policy. I will continue to work with my state NRA reps to address this. Is the NRA doing anything? The NY reps were not even aware of it. Neil...

Nice shootin' there Swartz!

Just noticed you knocked me off the peg and I never felt a thing!

575 AP is pretty good score for the Nationals.

See you soon if all goes well.

Have you flown with an AP cylinder recently?

I wrote my senator and he received a letter from the TSA saying no way not no how. My airport Albany NY has turned shooters with air rifles away. I want to go to the Nationals: I can UPS it to the hotel in Columbus but mailing it back is a hassle. Are there any problems with a cylinder at Atlanta? I...

So what are the big dogs using? That is the place to start. Cody Maxwell was shooting a Hammerli 280 for sport pistol or whatever the Junior event was a couple years ago. I watched him at Atlanta ansn he did very well with it. I think John Bikar had a Walther GSP but not 100% sure there. Who are the...

Moment of inertia (read resistance to motion) is enhanced by weight at the muzzle. Weight added to the center of mass simply increases the weight and does nothing for dynamic motion. Zurick and a few others had weights that went on the bbl itself but I dont know the source or cost. I just started fo...

Yup, sure does.

I am sorry they did it twice in the same calendar year and so late as well, as that knocked a lot of regulars out for no available time off.

I am glad that they updated, it was neglected for a long time. I am not so sure about the list criteria though. I wish they used the last x number of matches or shots. I did well in air, 8th I think, but fell off the list on Free because I didn't go to the Nationals this year and there aren't many U...

That's great but I can't count on getting stupid clerks. Where I live, they specifically ask about the guns, match them to your permit, do a NICS check on the spot, and have denied Jr Olympic participants from flying with cylinders that are not openable. I refuse to accept the "hope for an over...

Who needs facts to get where they are going? I just wrote to the White House on the matter. I am advised (by my wife, the judge) that legally, I must be an agrieved party in order to be able to sue and be heard by an administrative law judge regarding this issue. So I will pack my stuff and plan on ...

Bum's rush-Letter from TSA on airgun cylinders

Just received a letter from my Senator forwarding a response from TSA. They state that they worked with the Paintball Association and compressed gas industry and that they will not allow airgun cylinders in baggage unless the valve is removed and it is open for inspection. They will not open the cyl...

Travel & living is most of the cost and that doesnt change with the number of events fired. Lets get the attendance numbers up and maybe the fee reductions will follow. It IS expensive to run the Nationals and it may even be at a financial loss to USAS so dont let the fee issue get you. I am exc...

Go for it!

The best thing a new shooter can do is go to high level competitions and dive right in to the resources that are there. I was a mediocre shooter with no formal training and progress was slow with many setbacks. At mid Expert levels, I started going to the Crosman and then to Sectionals. On a busines...
