If he likes the balance of the rifle, there is absolutely no reason not to get one. When I first switched to a short barrel Anschutz with a weighted aluminum stock (stick on wheel weights out back), my standing and kneeling scores shot through the roof due to the improved balance and recoil characte...

Has the trigger been adjusted lately? Is the firing pin dropping during those misfires?

If there is a Jo-Ann Fabrics close to you, they sell a thin, adhesive backed craft foam for about $1 for an 8.5x11 sheet. I've been using the stuff for years on both wood and laminate cheek pieces, and it works great.

I remove the butt plate, sights, and bloop tube. Those are packed separately in a sights/accessory case. Butt plate stays in the case with the rifle, as it gets sandwiched well enough by the foam to not move around. Rifle with bolt and cheekpiece stay in their cut outs in the foam.

I can't attest to the air rifle value, but I did pay right at $3k for the same rifle (old-style aluminum stock, short SS bbl) that was in like new condition, and that was with a single butt plate and no sights. I'd easily pay the same for one with some miles on it and the listed accessories.

In prone, yes. In standing and kneeling, my scope is too heavy, and throws the balance of my rifle off enough that it becomes counterproductive.

That's a good deal. I've seen it go for nearly $200 a brick for those clamoring for it.

Congrats Jamie!!!! It seems like only yesterday we were shooting next to one another at Palmyra and playing whiffle ball outside the mods at Camp Perry. An amazing achievement by an unbelievably talented shooter! And I should also say, congrats to Ms. Furrer, a fellow Buckeye as well. 15th place and...

Answers can range anywhere from a block of wood to some of the latest European offerings. The key is to find something that works with your particular position, and has little to no flex to it. This is one of those things that's entirely subjective!

Plink - does your mat have a zipper for the pad? If it does, I THINK you can use multiple inserts in the mat if you meet the thickness requirement for NRA sanctioned events.

I shot a 1913 action in an aluminum stock that was bedded back in college, and it shot tremendous. My non-bedded 2013 action also does the same. Part of the issue is that bedding the aluminum reliably often requires excavating material and roughing up the surface on the aluminum stocks for the neces...

In the ballpark of 60g for the first stage, and around 100 or so for the second. I've gone up a bit over the years on the second stage, because I found myself mentally focusing on stopping just shy of the second stage, rather than the shot. Eliminated a lot of flyers that way.

It's going to be specific to your barrel.

My full length Anschutz loved hot Fiocchi pistol rounds. My short barrel Anschutz loved slower Tenex EPS. Oddly enough, I found my short barrel rifle to be less picky over ammo.

Eyesight/sight picture distortion?

Please bare with me as I'm primarily a rifle shooter. When switching to pistol for recreation, I noticed that my sight picture looked like the attachment (please pardon the crude drawing and proportions). If my focus was on the rear sight, the sight alignment looked square. If my focus is on the fro...

BA - it should be noted that Camp Perry did not always use those targets, they were changed to the "easy" ones in recent years (though I can't attest to how recent.)

What position do you keep your hook in? I shoot with a slightly elevated right elbow, and found that when my butt hook was a hair too high, any fluctuation in my right arm could create a bob effect. Other than that, I'm not familiar with many causes of bobbing other than a tensing of the muscles. Th...

The best for the money were the ESP stands, but he has had problems getting the parts he needs for the bases, and doesn't have any available. Next would be the CC stands. Stand itself is fine (and their new pads are better than the old ones), but I'm not a fan of the ammo box that comes with it, so ...
