Aftermarket drop in barrels, such as those from Lilja, are in fact conical breech and come without sight grooves. Only way to tell where the barrel is turned is by looking at the logo.

Sounds a bit obvious, but try hiking your pants way up as you kneel down into position. If the crotch area is binding you up, look into having some stretch lycra sewn in place. I find two major causes of sway in kneeling - the position of the right knee being too close to 12 o'clock, and the angle o...

TennJay - I just might have to give them a shot jhmartin - I used to do just that. My father used to deliver to a local packing supply company back up north, and they had GREAT high density, thick foam that they let me pluck out of the scrap bin at will. Unfortunately, they are no longer in business...

Replacement foam for Pelican case

Does anyone have a good source for a replacement sheet of Pelican foam or a suitable alternative (like the denser, closed-cell foams)? Everywhere I've looked, a single sheet of replacement foam runs about half the price of a new case! Now that I have an aluminum stock and short barrel, the existing ...

Centra makes one. You can order it through Neal Stepp at ISS, but be prepared to wait a while for it to come in. Anschutz also makes one, but does not come with the cant indicator bars like the Centra does.

The grip, cheek piece, and fore end panels all just unscrew to detach. However, you may be forced to paint yours, as finding these pieces new is probably very unlikely since the stock has been discontinued, and the only color available near the end of production was the blue/natural laminate.

Boots are really something that should be tried on, if at all possible. Wide feet, arches, ankle height, all make a big difference in comfort and support. I shot with the Anschutz 133 boots for years as a junior, and never realized how much they stunk until I tried something else. The original Sauer...

Is your grip tight based on how tight you squeeze it, or is it mandatory based on your length of pull? If the latter, you may want to try shortening the LOP a bit. Also, be sure to check your trigger alignment. A finger that starts to curl over the trigger or is pulling at an angle rather than strai...

It comes down to personal preference. I prefer the balance and feel of a rifle with a short barrel, especially when using most any of the aluminum stocks, as they weigh very little on the back end. Others shoot better with and prefer a full length barrel, especially in prone. If at all possible, fin...

Another option if your head position permits is to use a raised from sight. They make them to where the front sight is elevated on a narrow post, which should help take some of the visual of the barrel and mounting block out of the picture.

A good place to start is to get into position without sights. Then have a friend hold the sights up until you're looking through the center, and measure the distance between the sight base and the receiver. That will get you within a few mm either way.

One of the items I've seen used is a folding yardstick. It's small, can be used as a reference line, and you can also use it as an indicator to get your foot spread consistent (line the folding portion up on the 50ft/10m/50m mark as applicable, and use some tape, etc to indicate the spread for your ...

Number of clicks for risers?

Can anyone tell me how many clicks I would need when adding a set of 10mm risers with an Anschutz 6805 rear sight? I use 10mm risers in prone, and may be going to 20mm in kneeling and 30mm in offhand, and am trying to decide whether I should invest in a second rear sight, or whether to just count my...

I've owned a BSA 6-24X for many years, and at the time, had several friends using Tasco and Bushnells of similar price/quality. I think the Bushnells had a slight edge, and the BSA/Tascos were on par with one another. I never had a problem with it holding a zero, even with cheapie scope rings. Grant...

Can't say for sure, but they're likely all very similar. You have the lock ring that sets against the rear sight, and a similar ring that uses the provided wrench that is built in to the cover on the back of the aperture. I had to remove the lock ring that goes against the rear sight, and essentiall...

Thanks, all. I was doing it right (thought I wasn't), but that rear cover plate was hanging on for dear life. I ended up having to put it in a vice to get it off. Marred up the locking ring a bit, but there was no way it was ever coming off with the original wrench. Those filters were FILTHY, looked...
