Why not do this in other sports - I find the end of the marathon a bit boring; so lets take the top 8 finishers and make them run an extra 100m race to determine the medals. Oh, and don't get me started on the uniform rules and 'presentation of athletes' - have a look at the presentation of athlete...

These rules are changing so much that I've given up keeping an updated translation. The should abandon the printed version and dump it onto Ipad and other platforms and a decent, divided pdf. A pdf with sections 6, 7 & 8 would solve 90% of the shooters problems, I've made one with links in the i...

there is, probably, something amiss in ISSF site, since I've did no more than copy the address. I wish they would stop releasing things that are ready in November in mid-January. Almost got me printing the translation based on the Jan 1st errata... David is right, visit the site. Might discover some...

X Championship of the Americas

This match will be held in Rio de Janeiro, from 18th to 28th of November, with all disciplines of shooting and the participation of almost all american countries. Could find no mention of it in any of the American shooting sites. It seems that the notable absence will be the US team. Any reason for ...

Is the plastic spacer that fits under the action in the grip missing? If so this will create the problem you are having. It is normally fitted on the LP10 and removed to fit the LP50 action. HTH Mark Had the same problem with a LP@ when changed grip. Since in my case it was a small difference, I pl...

Hate to throw a spanner in the works, but unless you carry this test out using a machine rest the results will be meaning less. Your undamaged pellet test should be giving you one hole groups. A quality target pistol in a machine rest with match pellets will shoot a hole not exceeding two pellet di...

Spencer, I talked to the factory this afternoon and, for my big surprise, the downloadable software is only a demo. You have to pay for it,

Just checked the version you suggested and is the same thing. Thanks for the help.

A scoring machine that speaks German only

Just received a Disag RM IV, works perfectly but refuses to talk to any computer, for the simple reason that maker sells the system only in German.

Anybody has ever seen or heard about some English speaking system to link this machine to computers? There are USB and serial connectors on it.

Thanks

Pictures of the place

This is the thing. Old pic, grass is greener now. From the right, facing south (don't forget, other hemisphere): Finals' range (installing electronic targets 2nd quarter 2010) 25m range, 50 posts 50m range, 60 posts Skeet and others, 3 ranges Facing north the 80 posts 10m Air range and offices. JamesH wrote:Can't you just hang curtains on the walls and at intervals across the range (ie parallel with the firing point - like baffles)?
That is the idea, but with styrofoam because it can be made in the color, is lighter to hang and easily replaced. And problably blown in the wind...

Well, a talk with someone in the industry told me that active suppression is out, won't work. So, back to the old stuff. Had the idea of hanging Styrofoam behind and above the shooter, another tier behind that to catch ground reflections on their way to the ceiling and glue panels to the walls. And ...

Here in Brazil, where everything pays more taxes than anyone in America would believe, a motorized target changing system costs, at most, some US$200. This includes target support and backstop. One of the models is automatic: touch it once it moves all the way. If you want to stop it in between, tou...

Rob, The problem with the range is that it was built by the government for the Pan American games, and NO shooter had anything to say. It was delivered to the NGO some 20 days before the games...Budget for the games was less than 20% of actual cost. That is, cost was 4 times budget... One example: t...

[/quoute] Then do as Hemmers suggested and add some cheap (old) sound proofing materials. Strips of old carpet, old blankets etc, anything to 'soften' the concrete walls. If you just do bits you can then see how good that is and avoid paying out a small fortune. Unfortunately a big range is never go...

In parts: you buy brand new egg boxes, in the color you choose, at the factory. The size of the range is staggering: besides the number of shooting posts, the place has some 15m from floor to ceiling, making space for seats and some 5m more above the top seat tier. Now, some 60m lenght times 10m cei...

Active noise control- the stuff in electronic mufflers

We have a nice range in Rio, copy of Sidney's. As it happens, the copy was sloppy, and there is no acoustic treatment on the thing. When 8 shooters are in Rapid Fire conversation stops all over until the blast is over. The size of the place is impressive: 60 50m posts, 65 25m, plus a finals range, s...

Nice summation by OZ, with one comment: if the thing fails most probably it is your fault, either by careless handling (strap the thing to the wall) or lack of maintenance (15 yrs old and going strong, but did you ever look at the inside?).
