Re: Albert Forter
Even with that rather old 50/60's era design hook, it is not advisable to sit the rifle in a rack standing on the hook, the alloy isn't that strong. Also it can make the rifle rather long. On a lot of racks if you flip the hook over it will hang down in front of the base of the rack. I have to say t...

Re: Carpal Tunnel & CMP ACES
I'm glad you are going better. I have M.E. and one of the long term issues is Peripheral Neuropathy, so I know about the not being able to pick a penny off the table. I used to build electronics projects, but had to pretty much give it up as I cannot handle the components anymore. There is no cure f...

Re: Crystal front sight
It's not exactly a "new" product though, Looks just like the original Centra made unit, which is available in 22mm as well as 18. I think it is supposed to be best used with the Hi end glass inserts. I don't recall seeing too many of the Centra ones in use on the line though.

Re: Which gun is best?
Is this a joke? I think it's more a non native English speaker, hence the poor grammar and spelling. Of course there is no such thing as the "best" gun, out of that list at least. There is only the gun that feels the best to any particular shooter. Any good shooter should be able to set a...

Re: Need recommendation on 11mm rings for Anschutz / Leupold
I use the BKL mounts on my Anschutz rifles too. I have the normal double strap ones on my 1813 and one of the 4" cantileaver units on my old 1411, it's a 1964 model so only has the rear action ring grooved. I use either a Sightron SII 36×42 BRD or the very similar Optimate 36×44 FCD scopes usua...

Re: Pellets for Gamo compact?
I would just get a good basic flathead pellet to start with. RWS Geco is a really good choice, and very cheap. I certainly wouldn't spend any more for pellets to use in a Gamo Compact.

Re: All I want for Xmas is..
Could I please have ONE DAY completely free of pain plates? Taking between 100 and 160 mg of Morphine a day, still a relatively small dose compared to some, is getting rather monotonous! If I were to take enough of the stuff to completely remove all the pain I would be virtually comatose.

Re: Air Rifles
I like the LG400, and prefer the feel of the Alutec over the wood of the Anatomic. I've pretty much always shot Anschutz in smallbore, since 1978. But as pretty much everyone else has said you need to at least hold, and preferably shoot, as many of the offerings as possible. I also don't think it ma...

Re: Diopter for air rifle front sight
I see from your comments that you are trying to get a setup where both the foresight and target are in sharp focus. Unfortunately that is actually optically impossible. All you can do is get set up so that the foresight is sharp, the added depth of focus from the rearsight aperture coupled with a le...

Re: Diopter for air rifle front sight
Unfortunately if they are not legal to use, there is going to be no market for them, so no one is going to manufacture them. Maybe you could get a local optician to grind you a +1 or +1.25 Diopter lens of a suitable diameter for you foresight tunnel, that is likely to be your best chance otherwise. ...

Tim: as cut, the distance from the rear of the thumbhole cut to the butt is 4 1/4" on the cheekpiece side. Not sure how this compares to an unmodified stock, but it seems pretty short. Mark: I envision making spacers very similar to yours, which look very nicely made. Unfortunately, no band sa...

Re: Better value
FYI the pump pressure is very moderate, I'm 6' tall 32 years old and doesn't bother me a bit, for a 13 year old girl it might be a different story. My daughter started with a Walther LGR SSP when she started 10m AR at the club. She shot that rifle for about six months until they picked up some seco...

I think the highest power Eagle Eye lens is the 0.75. These devices are not legal under ISSF for ANY rifle shooting event. The ISSF do not even allow the use of a vision correcting prescription lens to be mounted on the rearsight. Any vision correcting lens in ISSF competition has to be worn by the ...

I have quite a bit of experience with AA rifles. As well as shooting them I do some work for a local dealer. He was the very first retailer to place an order with AA, when they started selling the guns that they had made for Sussex Armoury, before they went under. That's not something that AA would ...

Re: Printable Targets?
As Tim said about printing your own targets, not only is most printer paper shinier/more reflective than normal target paper it also contains Optical Brightening Agents. OBA's absorb the UV part of the spectrum, and then fluoresce emitting light in the blue part of the spectrum. This tends to make t...

Re: Petition against EU restricting legal gun ownership
I am surprised to learn that there is still ownership of semi-auto guns in Europe. Reminds me to take my AR-15 with a few 30-round mags to the range tomorrow. The individual laws by country regarding firearms are actually still very diverse. Here in the UK we have some of the most draconian laws wi...

There is a fairly simple test to prove compensation. Shoot a number of 10 round groups with a 30+ FPS spread through accurate chronographs near the rifle muzzle and at 100 yards. Calculate the vertical spread due to gravity based on the flight time difference between the fast and slow rounds, facto...

Re: remove or leave pcp cylinder on the rifle after firing
I have a lot of experience from working with a dealer who specialises in PCP sporting rifles. Most of those rifles do not have a removable cylinder. The easiest way to get the seals in one of these rifles to fail are to store it with no pressure in the system. Given that I always keep air in the sys...

Re: 1807 to 1813 stock upgrade
The only caveat is if the 1813 has been epoxy bedded, and the epoxy extends under the first inch/few inches of the barrel. Where it joins the action an 1807 barrel is slightly wider than an 1813 , so it won't fit into the barrel bedding unless you sand down the epoxy immediately in fron of the acti...
