Re: height of targets on 50 foot or 10 meter ranges

No not normally. There is a tollerance in the permitted height to allow for the exact circunstances. For example if the target line is on sloping ground While the FP line is level. ISSF rules also require the line of the target centers to be horizontal. This is most of the reason why there is a big ...

Re: height of targets on 50 foot or 10 meter ranges

The ISSF 50m target is 0.75m +- 0.5m above the firing point floor. The variation allowed is a full meter, hence the disparity in heights. The NSRA Cooper range at the LRC is at the high end of the scale.

Re: Air Rifle Reduced Target

We have 6 Yard targets here in the UK, with the aiming mark adjusted to match the 10m target. The scoring rings are the same size as the pre 89 UIT/ISU 10m target, so a 1mm diameter ten ring. At a guess outward gauging using the 9 ring as the bull looks to give a reasonable idea of if you would hav...

Re: Anshutz 2002 Super Air vs. Hammerli AR20

I would look for a well looked after second hand rifle from Anschutz/FWB/Walther be that SSP or PCP, depending on budget. I would stay away from a modern Hammerli, they are just higher priced Umarex made guns these days. For air I would suggest Walther LG300xt, FWB 700, Anschutz in that order for th...

This is actually getting interesting.. Saw a reference to the number of cones in the eye today (tetrachromacy) in this article (also explains - perhaps - why I had no difficulty discerning the dress was gold and white): https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/25-people-have-4th-cone-see-colors-p-prof-diana-...

Re: What I see in my sights

Foresight element size recommendations should really come with a note of the target type being used. Shooters in the USA using American NRA targets will need much smaller element sizes than those shooting on ISSF targets, or national targets where the aiming mark is proportional to the ISSF target. ...

Re: Bloop Tube: How long is too long?

I'd drill and tap a series of holes along the entire top of the tube, so you can try any sight radius before you decide where to cut it. Maybe even mill a 3/16" slot through the top of the tube and use a metal keeper inside the tube, just like how MEC Contact series butt plate height adjustmen...

Re: loading in position in standing

These days I'm limited to shooting in the sitting position, pretty much as in IPC SH1a class. I cannot get a full IPC Classification as the nature of my disability doesn't fit their very proscribed classification system, so I shoot under the domestic NSRA Dispensation scheme. Anyway thanks to that I...

Re: loading in position in standing

For many shooters it is difficult to reach the loading port. If you have to really reach or stretch you may be eliminating the benefits. With her current smallbore rifle my daughter is able to easily load in position standing. She has found it to be helpful for 5 shots, then rests the rifle. Each t...

Re: What is included angle on P70 Feinwerkbau dovetail?

The sizes for the foresight units dovetails all vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. Actually Anschutz have two different ones. One for 14/16/18XX series rifles, and a different size for the later 19/20XX series. All of the rearsight rails used seem to be able to mount telescopic sights using sta...

Re: Anschutz Modell 1411/1413 Match 54

What size groups/scores are people shooting with these vintage marvels? Well it depends on what targets you are shooting at. A good one, with a low round count and correctly matched ammunition could quite easily shoot possibles consistently on the ISSF target at 50m. That would be 100-10X on the US...

Re: ISSF supported seminar on Mental training for shooters

But £200 or more to attend a one day seminar is a bit steep though. I know members can get it down to £150 if they book early. I think £100 for watching the video is a right royal rip off though.

Re: high scores with Anschutz 1903s

I think even a lot of adult men would actually benefit from the 07 barrel length/weight. Certainly for 3P, as the trend in standing certainly seems to have brought the balance back closer to the shooter. In the eighties it seemed as if the trend was for a quiet muzzle heavy rifle, to give it more in...

Re: Air Tank Safety

Personally I wouldn't fill a 200bar cylinder from a 300bar cylinder without a regulator. If you follow a sensible filling routine then you should have zero issues filling to 200 bar from a 300 bar tank. Even if you were to just open the valve fully and let the cylinder fill it isn't going to explod...

Re: Air Tank Safety

The Air Rifle/Pistol club I shoot at here in the UK simply keeps the in use tank (we have a couple of 300 bar to allow for refilling) in a small cupboard in the corner of the clubhouse area. The cupboard is locked when not in use. The tank wears a boot so that it stands up on its own. To fill a rifl...

Re: CCI copper plated ammo for Anschutz 54

I got given a thousand rounds of CCI Standard to try out. It would not even chamber in my 1813. I gave it to one of the old chaps at the club, who was able to use it in his 1957 vintage BSA Century rifle. I know it was that old, as that was when he bought it new, I think it cost him about £20.
