Re: Stock support for Air Rifle (ISSF rules)
My daughter has a weight fitted to the front of the buttplate carrier of her LG400. It has been through EC several times, including British and English Championships, as well as the NSRA Junior International at Bisley. This has included three post competition checks. I know that the person that chec...

Re: Which LG400 model?
My daughter is shooting a LG400 Alutec Basic. I also shoot it occasionally, as a disabled shooter. It has just about everything you could reasonably want in a rifle. Don't forget that there is not really anything stopping you adding the more adjustable parts to the basic rifle as you develop as a sh...

Re: Iron Sight Offset Blocks
I'm sorry for the confusion with my earlier post. The rules as posted are indeed the NSRA rules. Rule 8.4.3 allows both an Eagle Eye lens in the foresight, AND a single vision correcting lens in the rearsight. I know shooters at my club who shoot with this arrangement, and who regularly shoot at the...

Re: Iron Sight Offset Blocks
I'm pretty sure that there are shooters at my club that use both an Eagle Eye in the foresight and a vision correcting lens mounted on the rear sight. It is important that you check the NSRA rules for the UK and NOT the NRA (GB). Our NRA only controls Fullbore TR in the UK and as I recall they DO NO...

Re: Junior Air Rifles
I would try looking for a second hand Walther LG300XT Junior. It's the same basic rifle as the normal LG300 but with a shorter air tube, and a nicely proportioned junior sized stock. I do know one smaller statured lady shooter who has had an LG400 Action, with short aluminium air tube fitted in to h...

Re: Dovetail to picantiny adapter recommendation
I would still look at BKL, but I'm not 100% sure about their range of 30mm rings, I don't think that the UK distributor carries the full range of their products. 30mm scopes are still quite a bit less popular than the 1" variety and the UK distributor only seems to show the really popular stuff...

Re: 100 yard prone shooting
Yes just stick with your normal match grade ammunition. Based on a normal sight length, to go from short range to 100 yards you will need to come up 40 to 50 clicks on a 10 turn sight or 80 to 100 clicks on a 20 click unit. That should put you in around the 9 ring, if you don't use cant. If you cant...

Re: air rifle target trolley system
ideally you are going to mount the target end securely on the wall. At the other end it will need to be securely fitted to the bench top, which will also normally have to be secured to the ground. I have seen a workmate type bench used, although it was "held" in place by a couple of 25KG b...

Re: A few anschutz 1411 questions
I would not consider shooting a 97 (I'll give you the benefit of the doubt for the three shot hole only having one shot out) on the ISSF target at 50m after only four weeks of shooting prone rifle to be "bad" I'd be very happy shooting regular 97's after shooting for 35 years. If I were ba...

Re: Dovetail to picantiny adapter recommendation
Well I have never had any issues, and often I am just using cheap Chinese knock off SportsMatch clones. I will say though that I do now prefer to use BKL's on my better scope/rifle combinations. Usually any variation in zero is no more than would be expected due to changes in conditions from one sho...

Re: Dovetail to picantiny adapter recommendation
I have to say I'm with the just stay with the standard 11mm dovetail group. I have never had an issue with sights going back to zero, be they scopes or diopters in over thirty years of use on a wide variety of firearms. That includes Anschutz match and sporter rimfires, Walther match air rifles and ...

Re: Trigger travel past break point?
Maybe it's the case that the trigger finger in pistol has a much larger influence on the hold of the pistol, as compared to rifle shooting, where the trigger is so light that operating it should have no discernible effect on the position of the rifle as it's so firmly supported by the sling, both h...

Re: Bolt shim?
If you can get yourself to a match where the Anschutz service team are going to be they should be able to correct the headspace without the need of a shim. I know that they sorted the bolt on my old (1964 proof)1411. For relatively small amounts of excessive headspace adjustment they seem to use a v...

Re: Trigger travel past break point?
My usual trigger technique is with a two stage trigger. I will do all my positional checks, bring the trigger to the through the first stage, which I have just light enough to return should I reject the shot. I then do my final breath, sight alignment checks, and build pressure until the shot breaks...

Re: A question for the Walther LG300 owners out there...
My daughter shot a club LG300xt in the laminate wood stock before she got her LG400 Alutec. I've looked at some pictures of her shooting it, and the loading lever is a single piece of flat plate with the end bent out at 90 degrees, not a round bar. It does seem like they might have had different ver...

Re: You can't buy it!
I think that we have two things to consider with shooting as a sport. Firstly you must have equipment that is of itself sufficient to do the job to the required level. When a shooter reaches a plateau in performance, then it becomes necessary to consider all the factors affecting performance. This i...

Re: Use of palm block in kneeling
There is no maximum depth for the fore end of the stock on the 50m rifle. The 90mm depth only applies to AR and 300m Std Rifle. So there is technically no limit to how deep you can build the stock at the forend. Modern Aluminium stocks seem to have a variety of different forend blocks for this purpo...

Re: How do I find a riflesmith?
I would expect that any well maintained Anschutz or similar match rifle using modern good quality unselected match grade ammunition, say Eley Match (Black box) or equivalent should be inherently capable of shooting consistent 200-20X's on the US A23 type 50 yard target. To score an X on the A23 at 5...

Re: Use of palm block in kneeling
What is allowed is building up the depth of the fore end of the stock with a solid block. In AR/Std Rifle it required that this followed the "line of the stock" and IIRC had to remain in place throughout the match. Certainly looking at modern Aluminium AR stocks they now seem to allow the ...
